Sure, I'll post pics when I make my jack o' lantern! But who knows when that will be; we have an old fashioned film camera and we scan 'em when they're developed...hehe

You know you're an apostate when... Or, My first Jack-o'-lantern!
by seattleniceguy inthat's right, that's right, i carved my first jack-o'-lantern!
it was much more easier than i thought it would be, and much more fun, too!
i don't think i did too shabby for my first try, but i definitely picked up some valuable insights by observing my roommate and her awesome cat-o'-lantern.

Those look AWESOME!
I was thinking about doing one for our front porch, but I'm a little timid. I am sort of overwhelmed by the thought of scooping all the seeds out...I dunno why. Somehow I'm afraid of screwing it all up...
I'm definitely feeling inspired by that cat though...hmm, might have to go ahead and give it a try anyway.
See, you just pick up on all SORTS of bad association on these ex-JW boards!! Like, pumpkin carving.

How Spiritual Are You? -- A 20-question true/false test from TIME magazine
by Gopher inthe new time magazine has a story called "the god gene", which suggests that the need for god is built into our genes, and may have possibly evolved.
wouldn't that be ironic?
anyhow, here's the quiz.

I got a 13, which it said was fairly spiritual.
I have to agree, that was a pretty dumb test. The questions measured maybe ONE person's definition of spirtuality, but it is by no means an exclusive one. Spirituality means different things to different types of people.

Were You Treated With Respect When Counseled By The Elders?
by minimus ini knew a certain few elders that really got off by "talking down" to the "flock".
many elders were pretty nice guys but a few could turn----just like that!
what was your experience with "those taking the lead", the "loving shepherds"???
-
Piph
Most of the elders I grew up with are total sweethearts.
The one though, that always ended up counseling me, was not. He's said things to me like, "You know you don't *do* that, Meia. You just don't *do* that!" Really? Then why did I do it? And, "Are you trying to give me a heart attack??" Oh, it's all about you, is it?
Grrrrrr.

"Whatnot"
"Believe you me"
"as it were"
"please feel free..."
One thing I say that I'm surprised I haven't had more complaints about is an incredulous "REALLY??" when someone tells me something interesting. And I actually wait for them to reaffirm themselves.
I also tend to start lots of sentances with "Well..." Kind of drives me nuts when I think about it.
