probably the phrases travel the world.

"Believe you me"
"as it were"
"please feel free..."
One thing I say that I'm surprised I haven't had more complaints about is an incredulous "REALLY??" when someone tells me something interesting. And I actually wait for them to reaffirm themselves.
I also tend to start lots of sentances with "Well..." Kind of drives me nuts when I think about it.
what things did you believe as a kid that now make you chuckle?.
i believed:.
that father christmas had special dust which he sprinkled into the children's eyes so they would forget they'd seen him.
That my mom never forgot anything ("just like an elephant!")
That the Randy Newman songs my dad sang were songs he made up
That Jehovah was a superhero who wore red leotards and a yellow cape and boots, and had a lightning bolt and a giant "J" on his chest LOL
That you would get disfellowshipped for kissing before the wedding ceremony
That I was an alien that could turn into a cat when there was a full moon and I would escape from my room and go kill people who were mean to me, and that I was adopted (my real parents were feline aliens) (I was older for this one...about nine. I was really out of touch with reality for a couple of years)
i'm so exited, i just got an email from a cousin i have not had contact with for 15 years.. he was disfellowshipped 15 years ago, and being a good jdub i ceaced all contact with him.
anyway i wrote him letter last week letting him know i'm now disfellowshipped and just seeing how he is going, and he just sent me an email.. he's going to sent me a longer one soon and send a heap of photos.
he also gave me am open invitation to come visit him anytime.
That is awesome!
I have a DF'd aunt and uncle, but I don't know where they are...or even what her last name is. :( I'd love to get in touch with them again.
this year at the dc, we were expressly told to wear our badges at all times, even when going to a restaurant or some place else, so we could "give a witness.".
did any of you hear follow through with this arrangement?
did you have one of those "fantastic" experiences, when someone commented on your badge?.
Hehe...I did Blondie's trick. I would take mine off at the restaurants, but the people I was with were always like, "Where's your badge?" Then I'd act like I was just kind of spacey about the whole thing (not hard to do) and put it back on again with a vague apology while acting confused. Inside, thinking, Damn! Foiled again.

My feelings for the Zone are actually negative because of how things ended there...but for a while I was really posting crazily and felt like I belonged. I think it's funny that the "spiritual" feelings I got from associating from my "fellow brothers and sisters in holy spirit" are the same feelings I get here...just having a good time talking and laughing with people I like again. It feels good.
Sorry about the inherent insult though...seriously guys this is nothing like a Witness board. LOL ;-)

okay... i may act like a hick from a small-town... but... i'm curious about something.. what is the 'proper' amount that one is supposed to 'tip' the gal at the salon.
the one whut cuts the hair.. i've never really had a good idea... and i know that i look like a dufus... fumbling and mumbling... as i hand a dollar or two to the gal.. now... if i'm supposed to be giving something like $5.00... forget it!
i usually hand over 1 or 2 dollars - depending on how well i feel that they did.
I haven't had my hair cut professionally for a long time, and I'm overdue. Is there a percentage involved? I know women's hair can cost a lot more, especially if there's coloring involved (which there hopefully will be for me, next time. :D).
i told my husband that i'm pretty sure i wasn't allowed to play with these when i was younger but i can't remember the reasoning behind it?

Care Bears weren't off limits where I grew up. I watched them on TV, and if I liked them enough, I could have had some Care Bear toys (as it was, I was never really into bears of any sort). I wouldn't have wanted Birthday Bear (of course, I was such an angel :p) but the Luck Bear and others wouldn't have been a problem.
