my guess is that the increase could be due to the fact that it's been 100 years since 1914, people might think the end is really close. Something similar happened for 1975, though it wasnt as constantly growing as it has been today. The best thing to do is to wait and see what the numbers will be after 2014, it might drop in the folowwing years or continue increasing.

Pondering The Increase in Memorial Partakers
by piztjw init has been discussed in other threads, but in pondering what the real reason for the increase in partakers is i have a personal theory.. this theory would naturally have to be based on ones actually believing the bible, and not just simply what the wt&t$ dictates that one must believe.. when jesus made a covenent with the apostles at the last supper to rule with him in heaven, is it possible that that covenent was with them only?
jw's will say that it also extended to all the rest of the 144,000. but nowhere is there a lliteral claim of only 144,000 in the bible.
in revelation, a book that jw's claim is filled with symbolism, that number is suddenly claimed by them to be literal.

My perfect paradise house
by redvip2000 inwhile browsing throught my facebook timeline today, i came across a post from a facebook "friend" who is a hardcore zealous jw.
he obviously has no idea that i'm an apostate.
and so this person provides me endless entertainment on a daily basis with his delusional posts about the org.. today we had this gem, where he said he had just designed his paradise home in photoshop which i am posting a picture here.

There are a lot of JWs who like to imagine their future homes. One elder and his wife said we couldn't have mansions because it would be unfair to have 100 rooms and big space for a family or themselves. I guess there are regulations in paradise haha. That same elder said he wants Kobe Bryant's or Michael Jordan's house. He's praying to Jehovah to save it during Armageddon if Jehovah allows it. Some crazy fantasy I'd say.

I was wondering about that too. I always assumed it meant the body of Christ, not the anointed. I don't remember ever hearing that it was suppose to be them. What's ironic is that many of the "Christendom" churches already figured that out long ago.

You don't suppose there will be "new light" at this meeting? Or maybe some new information like they did with the new bible, broadcast it around the world. It has to be something of great importance to be doing this, especially when they bring people from other countries and the Governing Body is there.

Turnersville Assembly Hall
by jdubsnub inthe congregation i'm associated with had their assembly recently and i decided to go for one day.
i could not believe how much it felt like one of those mega churches you see on tv.
they've added now 2 very large tv screens on each side of the speaker as well as a monstrous projection screen above.

They did the same thing at the assembly hall I attend in Mira Loma. They added a whole ton of fancy TVs around, done for the annual assembly when the new bible was released.

The zeal has gone out of the preaching work , their is no more urgency to the work.

yesterday a group of jw`s entered the street where i live , i`m at the end of a street and they stood around and obviously joked and mucked around for about 10 minutes as a group opposite my house .their were 3 teenage girls ,1 teenage boy , and 3 older men .
this was about 10:30 am on a saturday.

i go to a foreign language congregation so we take the car and drive around to cetrain addresses around the city or go to stores and knock on doors looking for people who speak that language. Anyway, going out in field service there is really chill, too chill. There's not a big rush or urgency in finding people. Like when I went to FS recently, all we did was go to a store full beauty prodcuts cause a sister wanted to buy something, and them went to the market to buy food and and something to drink. While at the market, the elder in charge of the car group made a brief "reminder" that we were "looking" for people who looked like they spoke the language. In reality, none of us were and he was telling us how good the food was. Then we sat in the car and talked until it was time to go. Easy way to count your time though it's pretty much cheating. We only found one person working at the store but all they did was give him the magazine to read, nothing else. in my past congregation, we did door to door but hardley anyone opened. And I noticed that the brothers there loved to talk so they would stop in one place out on the street and just talk for a while before moving on sometimes.

"Worldly" Friends vs "True" Friends
by DuvanMuvan inhey guys i am new to the whole forum thing (long time reader, first time postererer) and i wanted to get some other opinions on something that has bothered me ever since i first became a jehovah's witness.. i was always taught at the kingdom hall that friends inside the orginisation were the only ones i could count on and that the ones out of it (mainly at school) were just being controlled by satan to trick me into leaving the religion.. however, i always found it to be the opposite.
my "worldly"friends were all accepting of my religion (back when i was ok with being a jw) and are the only ones i have really opened up to about wanting to leave.
the only things i have in common with the other teenagers in my hall (3 boys, 3 girls) are that we've all been raised in the truth and... well that's it.. i was just wondering if anyone else found the same thing when they were a teenaged jw or if anyone still in my age finds the same thing..

The reality isn't black and white like they put it. Not everyone outside is all bad just cause they don't conform to the standards of a JW. I'm a born in and still young, but I never really had any friends in the congregation even while still believing in religion. I did notice while growing up, that there were some younger JWs who would do things they shouldnt have like date, swear, smoke, and hang out with the wrong people. At the Kingdom Hall, they were seen as good young people in the congregation. I never did those things but it got me to question what we were being told. Plus I always had "worldy" friends at school, and even though there were times when it was difficult to relate to them, they still respected my religion and didn't push me to do bad things. They didn't really care if I was a JW and were helpful, good people. What is interesting is that I felt like I could be more like myself, and more relaxed with them and with people at school than at the congregation.
My point being: it's more about finding the right people who are good to be around with. What the Watchtower does is use fear tactics; they demonize and highlight the bad on the other side to scare people, and when the people swallow those ideas, they avoid the others. It creates a separation, a barrier and a way of control.

Standing on Street Corners, Counting Time - the Impotent Future of Preaching

The arrangements they have is not to talk to people unless they come up and are interested. For anyone who has lots of questions, they are invited for a bible study and the two brothers "guarding" on the sides could talk to them or take them to the stand. They stands are only really to give out only the magazine and books. I don't really know how affective this is, though from the Kingdom Hall, they sometimes say that they give out a lot. Whenever I see the stands, I don't really see anyone coming around that much. This is coming from the US but I expect the arrangements to be the same everywhere.
