JW love in action: JWs fail to inform me when roommate of two years dies
by seattleniceguy inwhen i was a witness, i shared a house with an elder/pioneer named herb.
herb was in his eighties, and he had paid off his two-bedroom house long ago, so he would offer the extra bedroom to local brothers.
it was a good deal, and herb got some company at the house, so everyone benefited.. for being in his eighties, herb was exceptionally fit.

I too was later told of a dear friend's death through round about ways. It hurts. I thought of my days out washing windows (pioneering) and Herb and you living there, and wrote this for both of you. peace to all of you who have suffered because of these men.

The small size of KH windows
by helios init was only a few days ago when driving through a small town in the uk i noted a kh.
nothing unusual except that one side wall was totally devoid of anything.
the other side of the building revealed three very small windows, and i mean small.

The small windows are by design with the following reasoning from God's Therapists (G.B.):
1. There is no need to look outside - all Light is inside.
2. There should never be a reason for boredom at a KingDumb Hall, so nobody would be looking out the window, or wanting to.
3. Weather is unimportant, for within the Spiritual Paradise there is neither sun nor rain nor snow, only God's warmth.
4. Windows invite rocks from outside, and many are angry at the WTS these days.
5. Windows need to be washed and the breathren are too busy preaching the Bad News.
6. Without windows, the jail motif is appropriate to get the Other Sheep ready for when detention camps are reserved for Dubs.

They didn't respond to my letters directly; they sent copies to the local elders. Then my former wife and I went to Brooklyn by train to visit them. I refused to leave Bethel until I spoke to someone. They had us wait and wait and then we met with a group of four to speak with me for about 15 minutes. My questions were dismissed as "oh yeah, we know that one." I was counseled from a WatchTower on "humility." The train ride back to Boston will always stand out in my mind as an incredible life experience.

Oak Trees of Righteousness
Oak tress of righteousness calling at your walls,
Bridegroom rejoices over his Bride in sunless halls,
They have crowns in their hands with pure delight of heart,
Shall you now rebel, and join the "Smart"?
Can you lie with a woman that is now unclean?
Or take a sister to share in something unseen?
Oh, how the princes among her are rending the prey;
My, how the priests violate Jehovah's laws all day.
Her sister Oholibah, the doter, carried on worse,
While the Babylonians came to visit and recited defiled verse.
Thebes split asunder, Memphis reduced to gravel,
Men shall stop up the valley of Azazel, and then will travel.
Standing by the way, asking for ancient paths,
While both neighbors and friends rejoice in oiled baths.
My Flesh was clothed with worms and clods of dust,
Yet, clothes are moth eaten, the world's silver and gold turns to rust.
Is it Babylon or Zion, whose deeds seem better?
Esau, now a merchant, will soon be a debtor.
Jacob, zealous for good works, received a reward,
Shut the mouths of lions, to receive death by the sword.

Just as when Moses went on top of Horeb, a molten new-fangled-old-fangled worship proceeded.
Jesus said wait, Jehovah said wait; everybody was preaching, "TOO LATE!"
Preaching a molten calf -- a new-fangled-old-fangled worship -- one big party to God (?)

It's official - 20 years out and free
by Lady Lee inok 20 years out only 10 years free (cuz sometimes i'm a slow learner).
yup may makes 20 years since i officially got the boot.
20 years since i lost my entire way of life and had to start all over - no money, no home, no education, no job.. there's a sad kind of irony here in that except for the education i'm sort of in the same boat.

Quickbuilds

i drove past today & it made me sad - they were the best part of being a dub.
i used to go with friends, & it was cruzey - checking out guys & socialising & working hard.

I loved building projects, and as Blondie said the fights among brothers were intense. God forbid a brother slipped a disk and didn't show up for "Hall Day" or a sister was sick and didn't deliver her deep dish, "dem bruders are hungry workers." I enjoyed doing the roofs, could see everything going on down below. Precious moments.

Crazy reasons why people became JW's...
by misspeaches indo any of you have any amusing stories as to why some people becames jw's?.
personally... when we were just little tikes my mum was organising a birthday party for my sister.
she invited the neighbours boys around and they weren't allowed because they were a jw family.

There was a guy, rock singer circa 1972, and he cut his hair, began preaching, and got baptized all within a few months (excelerated truth book studies - a few a week). He told me once that he "joined" to piss off his band, parents, friends, and girlfriend. He lasted a little over a year and joined his old band and eventually married his former girlfriend.

"Leaving the Saints" By Martha Beck

beck has always been a favorite of mine, and i bet there are a lot of similiarities here to what many jws have been through in leaving/abuse issues...but honestly i don't know if i have it in me right now to read the whole thing.. it looks like a fabulous book, though.
