Society letter read to all congregations July 28,2006 !!
by headmath ini got news of this from the jw grape vine today that at the meeting on thursday(yesterday) there was a letter read to all the congregations from the society.
for the first time the society says in the letter to prepare for great tribulation and to have plenty of emergency supplies in case of a disaster.
this has shaken the up the jws it seems.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm heading to the package store immediately. I'll stock up... papers, lighters, wine, beer and booze. Then, when the BIG T comes, I'll have plenty for the brothers and sisters.

Howdy all-
Spoke with Prophecor - Arthur, this afternoon and he wanted me to let everyone know that he is fine. He hasn't been on JWD due to his lack of an Internet connection. He also wanted me to thank everyone for their well wishes regarding his birthday last month. I had visited Arthur two months ago, after many messages, and found one wonderful man. We spoke for a couple of hours before I flew out, and the time passed by much too quickly. If there are any well wishes, please post, and I will relay those to him.

The Presiding Overseer Called Me This Afternoon!
by minimus infor the first time in about a year and a half since resigning as an elder, i got my 1st checkup call to see whether i planned on attending the meeting tonight and to see "how you're doing".
i explained that since my mother is quite ill, that i would be seeing her with a meal and whatever else might need.
he asked whether my wife would be at the meeting to which i replied that i was not sure.......well, this should prove interesting.

Howdy Minimus-
So much for roaming the mountains and hillsides for one lost sheep. So much for heaven being joyous and the angels singing when one returns. So much for the tender compassion and brotherly affection. Actions always speak louder than words. Hey by the way, do you remember Danny Gjicka, was thinking about that beast the other day?

Instant Karma's gonna get you (just like it did this PO)
by MinisterAmos inso thing's are going well in dubland and the call comes down that my bookstudy is to be moved to a different congo.
instead of a 30 minute ride to the hall we will be forming a new congo and use the hall only five minutes from my home.. great because gas has just gone to $3.00 per gallon right?.
we meet the new po and he breaks the real news.

Visit him on a meeting day/night, then you can avoid the babble. As far as meetings, why waste the gas?

last time in field service
by darth frosty inanother poster had the topic about your last meeting, but what really stands out for me is my last time in service.
it was a nice day and i was trying to keep up appearances.
i offered the rags a one door and the householder took them (i didn't bother with the donation spiel.

I had come to realize that the literature was inaccurate, so I went with only a Bible, and my pioneer partner lost it when I refused to place any literature. The elders were called in, the CO, etc. That was the end of pioneering, FS, and congo duties - bye bye public talks, bye bye #1 talks, bye bye B.S.

PO said automation and declining contributions reason for Bethel layoffs
by truthseeker inlast week at the meeting, the po, who has very close connections to bethel, said that he never thought he would see the day that bethelites were being sent home.
he said that the biggest two reasons he thought bethel were cutting back, was automation and a massive decline in contributions.
looks like you're right metatron about the contribution aspect being their achilles heel.

Maybe they'll start selling indulgences for those who can't get their 10 hours in. If this doesn't deliver enough, there are always novenas, candles, and "I love Jehovah" t-shirts and wrist bands. How about, "What would Rutherford do?" sweat shirts, with the back of the sweat shrt loudly proclaiming "Drink, and Beat the Flock"
It's time for gadgets, book bags, and novelty items....

Brooklyn Says they Need 40,000 qualified Brotheres
by drew sagan ini just mentioned this in another post but thought i would start a new thread about it.
my wife reminded me a few days ago that the bethel speaker at our convention stated that "the organization is in need of more than 40,000 qualified brothers to take the lead".
this basically means that brooklyn is saying that every congregation in the world is down 1 - 1.5 qualified brothers(?

Has there been new light on this?

Once upon a time one could gawk at them at Bethel, but with downsizing, one can only gawk at the biggest ballsiest printing press wasting paper on foolish comic strips of lions and bears playing with serpents and kittens.
