  but now iam getting pressured into being baptized in september.

  144,000 on The Simpsons

  in last nights episode of the simpsons, homer goes to see the movie "left below", and subsequently becomes obsessed with the rapture.

  when they show an equation he's working on to determine when it will come, one of the numbers is 144,000!.

  do any other religions besides the witnesses and adventists use that number?

  I believe in past studies the Waldenses and some Anabaptist splinter placed emphasis on the 144,000. This Anabaptist "sect" also were pre-Adamites, believing that there were other creations and this Adam was one of many "attempts."

  Just curious...."service, and gas money"

  locally on occasion it was the common practice when "in service" to leave gas money for the driver.

  i know that the individuals if savvy can get a tax credit for mileage for service (and i was once told mileage to and from public talks could also be included).

  what i am curious about is do people still give the driver money for thier trouble?

  I remember days of pioneering when all the working brothers and sisters would pile in my station wagon for weekend F.S. and never offer a dime. So, I started asking before we left - "BTW, we're on empty, who has some money for gas, change or bills." I would then go to the gas station, and we were off.

  What a mess left behind - always.

  The bill collectors are on the phone, the plane was absconded by the bank, and the booze is done - credit cards maxed, and I'm standing here sans clothes, no dog food for the Dalmatian, and you ponder your calculations, on a surfboard!

  No more prophets for me, and the dog agrees. Back to Java coding.
