Rutherford's last book "Children" 1941- Advice DONT HAVE KIDS...Where it all started!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower 1941 sept. 15 p.283, 288 "in front of the convention platform the children recieving there free gift (copy) not as a play thing but as the lords instrument for the work in the remaining months before armagedon..." so what lovely message did the kids get from judge rutherford?
children 1941page 281 "no children were taken onto noah's ark...it is proper to wait until after armagedon to have children...its only afew more years till armagedon..." the book concluded.
"(john and his girlfriend talk) ...armagedon is surely near our hope is within afew years our marriage will be consumated and we will have sweet children...we will defer marriage and pioneer ...we will not see each other for a time.." thats why i dont have kids it all started with this fools book!.

Consider the "outcome" when elders apply the two-witness "rule"
by AndersonsInfo injehovahs witnesses two-witness rule is applied by elders when a witness member accuses another member of a sin, even if that sin is a criminal act.
if there arent two witnesses to the accusation, it goes nowhere, including not being reported to the authorities.
and in the case of an allegation of child abuse, the accused is free to molest again.. watchtower attorney, jim mccabe, recently stated this about jehovahs witnesses two-witness rule which he described as a bible-based belief :.

A QUESTION FOR JW'S who say, "The brothers were overly zealous" about 1975
by Terry in"what was the actual significance of that year, then?".
if jw's were overly zealous, what was the exact amount of zeal encouraged by the wts for a non-event which took up.
over 7 years of every jw's time?.

The Gentile times have ended; their kings have had their day.
by Londo111 indear jw,.
on october 2, 1914a hundred years ago todaycharles t. russell announced, the gentile times have ended; their kings have had their day.
for almost 40 years, among other predictions for that year, 1914 had been looked to as the end of armageddon, false religion, and all governments, and the beginning of paradise on earth and the resurrection.

What will you do to celebrate Oct 2 2014?
by jwfacts inlike most people reading this, i was convinced that by 2014 the new system would 'definitely' have been operating for at least a decade.
now that i know this is not going to be the case i am going to have to think of some way to recognise 100 years of wts let downs and failed predictions.
there is no point fretting over the past so i think it will be a good time to celebrate.

Friday October 3, 2014 all is fine here in Canada. Just remembering how I was told by every CO, elder, ms, & pioneer back in 1979/80 that I would never, ever work 30 years and retire from my public sector job in 2010. People told me I was dreaming, (2010 really??) for a certainty Armageddon would be here long before 30 years would ever go by. I was accused of having a weak faith and not understanding the meaning of world events.
So many of the JW’s I knew that were born in the late 1950’s and were teenagers in the 1970’s truly lived with that narrow minded ideology. The idea of getting old and preparing for the future was foreign to them. Some left school when they turned 16 with a Grade 10 education to start pioneering as soon as possible. Don’t get me wrong many of these people were my friends, very sincere and heartfelt in their desire to please God. Now when I observe their anxieties primarily due to financial hardships caused by poor planning and job losses, I sort of feel sorry for them. Nevertheless I hold the WTS leadership responsible for creating this dismal state of affairs. Millions of honest hearted brothers & sisters have paid a steep price, giving up the prime of their lives to serve these twisted men, who claim to be the “voice of God.”
WT June 15, 1957 p. 370 par. 7: “It is vital that we appreciate this fact and respond to the directions of the “slave” as we would to the voice of God, because it is His provision.”
These leaders have a lot to answer for. I’m glad I always served and made life altering decisions with the, “What If…??……Philosophy……Guiding Me.”
What If..??……it’s all a crock, a lie, a scam, a clever fabrication and just another man made religion, then what?? Yes we are starting the 2 nd century of Jesus' invisible heavenly rule. Faded 4 years now and never felt better.
To my very few friends that still bother to speak to me, more than 3 decades later, I say this, “Collecting that full City pension with benefits is awesome.”
I will celebrate this momentous anniversary by having a couple of drinks, and see what’s on Netflix.
Cheers To Everyone.

Hardtobeme you make valid points regarding one month before the visit etc. Here are more details in the actual letter.
2. Appointments during a regular visit to a congregation: At least one month before the circuit overseer’s visit, the Congregation Service Committee should send to the circuit overseer the full name, date of birth, and date of baptism of any brother the body of elders will be recommending for appointment as an elder or a ministerial servant. The Recommendations for Appointment of Elders and Ministerial Servants (S-62) form should be used for this purpose.—See paragraph 14.
3. No earlier than a day or two before the start of the visit, perhaps when other congregation records are provided, the elders should provide the circuit overseer with background information that will help him have a complete view of the qualifications of the brother(s) being recommended for appointment. Such information would include letters of recommendation (or perhaps letters of introduction) from a previous congregation. During the meeting with the elders later in the week, the circuit overseer will discuss the Scriptural qualifications of each brother recommended. ( ks10 chap. 3 pars. 1-10) If the circuit overseer determines that the brother does not measure up to the Scriptural requirements to a reasonable degree, he will advise the elders accordingly and inform them how they can help the brother to qualify in the future.
It’s true that the CO will try to observe the brother or possibly work with him. Not so easy since dropping one meeting night during the visit. Also most brothers are working during the midweek for service arrangements.
Bottom line the CO determines Yes or No. He is the one that signs off on the WTS form going forward. Therefore his letter was read, “I have appointed…”

The week of September 15, 2014 was the congregation’s CO’s visit. The midweek meeting was on Tuesday, a very general bland talk was given by the CO. In the past we would have had the elders & servants meeting on Thursday night, and the other congregation meeting on Friday. As you know the Friday meeting is no more. My wife brought home the schedule for the week and I noticed that the elder’s meeting had been scheduled into that open night, namely Friday instead of the traditional Thursday.
Five days later from the previous Friday’s elders and servants meeting was the regular midweek meeting (I listened on the phone). After some general announcements were read at the start of the Service Mtg. the brother said we have one last announcement. He said this letter is from our Circuit Overseer and it says, “This is to advise the congregation that I have appointed to a Ministerial Servant, Bro. So & So.”
That was it one simple straightforward sentence. It specifically was worded that, “I have appointed to a MS……..” The turnaround time from the CO and elders discussions on recommendations was five days. In the past with the Branch involved, reviewing recommendations, rubber stamping them and sending them back would take 2-3 weeks.
As stated in previous discussions on this subject this was clearly done to remove culpability and accountability from the Branch. The responsibilities of appointments are on the CO’s. This guy has been a CO for nearly 40 years and according to his age will be sent packing soon when he turns 70. Just can’t imagine how these guys and their wives who gave their whole life to an organization, many barely finishing high school are feeling right now!!
Evidently more shocking surprises are ahead for the many sincere, genuine, but sadly, mislead JW’s.
I can’t believe I was ever part of this lame, silly, marginal religion.
