how are you still affected?
by SpiceItUp insure there are some of us who have been "out" for years and others that are only out by their mindset but due to many reasons still have to save face.. in what ways do you still feel the hold of the wt in you?
do you still pick out your music/movies carefully?
does nudity and/or language still offend you to a deafening degree?

by Guest 77 ini read your reply to 'not fitting' and i'm sorry to hear that only one person welcomed you to the board.
you have to forgive some of us because the board moves quickly and trying to read as many posts as possible and make replies is a chore within itself.

Do you miss being part of something big?

at one time i was one of "gods chosen people", part of a special group of people who had exclusive access to hidden truths about the earth and its people.. now of cource i realise i'm just like everyone else and all the puzzles are still there.. kind of miss that feeling sometimes..

i feel really uncomfortable when witnesses pray around me too. and i find that those 'witness phrases' still just pop right out of my mouth without my really even thinking about it ("the truth", "out in service", "the annointed", "elders"...the other day i was talking about something to my boyfriend and i must have said something about the book study, he got all confused..."what is a book study? OH, that witness crap. those guys are too weird." :P)
i have that tendency towards doormat behavior as well. and i cannot make a decision to save my life. i used to be much worse, but my boyfriend pushes me (thankfully) to grow up in this regard. when i met him it would be impossible for me to even pick the restaurant we'd go to ("no, we'll just go where YOU want, i'm not even that hungry anyway) writing this i just now realized i never capitalize my "i"'s, not even when i'm hand writing something. that is just sad! :P

i love my tattoo, it's a fairy (i know, not terribly original for a girl, but i love fairies and i always have so i don't really care). my friend who worked at the tattoo parlor designed it for me and then actually tattoed it himself, and i really need to take a picture of it, i just love it so much. i'm dying to get more, i'm just having a hard time deciding on a location. this time i want to get part of a dali.

i think the main reason i miss it so much is that i was raised in the organization. i'd never known anything else, and i always believed it one hundred per cent. plus my parents were very strict about that bad association tripe, so the only time i saw friends was when i went to KH. Of course i'm glad to be out of there and i'd never go back, but the sense of community isnt something i haven't quite replaced yet.

i know it might seem lame, but i still really do miss it. and i miss the feeling i used to get right after i'd left the KH, like i was pure and sparkly clean and sin-free.

Armageddon dream
by tinkerbell82 ini used to have horrible nightmares from the time i was maybe five until i was maybe thirteen that armageddon has come and i'm on jehovah's bad list.
i had them at least three times a week initially, but gradually as i grew older they were less frequent and then they finally stopped altogether...or so i thought.
last night i had one for the first time in at least seven or eight years and it was just as terrifying as it was when i was five.

you know what's sort of funny about the nazi thing? i told my boyfriend, who has never had any affiliation with witnesses, that i used to have nightmares about the nazis being after me, and he laughed when i told him that witnesses were persecuted in the concentration camps. he would NOT believe me! in fact i almost started believing him, thinking that this was just another piece of martyr propaganda from the organization, but then i looked it up on the internet and showed him that i was right. i always took it for granted that everyone knew about it because i grew up with that legacy, but it makes me wonder how many people have no idea witnesses were targets during wwII..........

Would you ever come back for someone you loved?
by micheal inif there was someone you were crazy about who went back to associating with jw's again and they asked you to come back too, only because to live dividedly for the rest your life would be just too hard and awkward.
keep in mind your role would be very limited, few meetings a month, couple hrs service a month etc.. i know "if" this was before me i would feel that i would never ever want to come back.
i don't believe it is the truth, can't stand the control among other reasons.

NO FREAKIN WAY. i love my mom more than i will ever love anyone else in the whole world. she is my best friend, she is the best mom that has EVER lived. she would do anything for me -- except leave the organization. and i would do anything for her -- except go back. leaving was the most difficult thing i have ever done in my little life, and i could never make myself relinquish all the living i'm able to do now. i'd rather walk through fire wearing a gasoline dress.

mine always end with me waiting with the rest of the worldly damned to face jehovah and receive my horrible judgement and death. i can always see my family enjoying the paradise and i feel overwhelmingly that i have let them and jehovah down. that's what makes me the saddest - that jehovah is disappointed in me. but i always wake up before i meet him. it's so weird.
