but craig, what damage could these tiny cute little fists inflict, really?? i'll leave the tough stuff to the boys ;)
tink, of the tongue-half-in-cheek class
the recent thread about the 5yr old baptized got me to thinking....... i learned to read at an early age.
i was also in all the gifted classes in school.
i remember a great deal of the witness kids were in gifted classes.

you know, i understand that comment was made tonuge in cheek...bradley is far too intelligent to say that and mean it.
....but it really, really does bother me, and if you want to know the truth i dont post much on the "meatier" threads on this board in part because of that mentality.
however, i won't hijack this thread any further, and i apologize for leading it off-topic.

as i mentioned, bradley, bad week. i apologize. i figured it was too late to erase my caustic post or else i would have deleted it.
though i do feel justified in being bristly at your first comment. i know the spirit in which it was intended to be taken though and i'm sure you didnt really mean it to be offensive.

I don't believe this consitutes an argument bradley. i was merely clarifying my statement. maybe we'd be arguing if i weren't so cute?

notice i never said that i agreed that dub kids are brighter. i was relating my own experience and my contention was simply that their intelligence does not necessarily "level off" after high school.
ps, i was always a pretty decent math student as well, PS.

bradley:
nice delivery.
was that meant to be incredibly offensive?

But there is a DEFINITE leveling off after middle school and most certainly after HS.
I have to disagree. or perhaps agree but with one qualification - i think that socially JW kids are obviously miles behind their non-JW counterparts. i dont think their intellectual acuity levels off after middle school and high school - i know this was definitely not the case for me. but i think after high school witness kids are forced to deal with a completely different social structure particularly if they attend college living on their own (as was my experience). i had a lot of growing up to do socially speaking and that definitely had a negative impact on my grades, class attendance, etc, but i do not think i am any less intelligent for it.
got this "experience" in an email.
it was sent by a sister i used to know quite well, i think she sent it to encourage me, but it has had the opposite effect.. "____________________.
baptized at age 5. the mother and father of a little girl had a bible study with xxx.
most kids learn to read before the age of five, don't they? i know i was reading books before i was in kindie, i think that's usual. poor kid sounds like me, i started out as a householder when i was 4...although i never did manage to get a bible study the entire time i was a witness, not a SINGLE solitary one. she must be really ambitious...that's gonna get her in trouble eventually, thank goodness :P
it's autumn, and this is thanksgiving weekend in canada.. i'd thought i'd take a moment out to reflect on what i am thankful for, and ask, what are you thankful for?.
this is my favourite time of year.
crisp, fresh air.
it;s not thanksgiving here yet, but...
today i was lazing in the hammock in the backyard, reading a great book without being interrupted. there was a really nice breeze so the hammock was sort of gently rocking, and there was this amazing crisp, clean quality to the air. nothing like a fall afternoon. :) anyhow, i happened to glance overhead and noticed that this little grey spider was weaving her web in the rafters above me. i got to watch her weave most of the framework of her home, i spent hours spying on her. i felt really thankful that i had a chance to see that. it was humbling.
that is so absolutely sappy, i know....
