Is it now common fare in high school?
It is. i actually read it in junior high (eighth grade) AND high school (junior year), in fact.
and i remember the days when the jws warned about the catholics and their "index" of books, movies, and plays that were denied to catholics as being "dangerous" to their faith.
that is to say, they were revelatory of the actual truth of a matter and the roman church did not want these truths spreading throughout the faithful.
now the witnesses are up to it to.. have you read 1984?

i haven't been on this board for a while.
i've been on a conservative ezboard trying to see if we can't do something about political issues.
i've also got a new job, had to get the car fixed, been best man in a wedding, and watched the two towers on vhs.
i was a born-in as well, and i wouldnt be surprised if the experience continues to affect me in some measure throughout the rest of my life. i guess i'll just have to find out.
i have been doing contract work for about four years now and i have been trying to get a permanent position for well over a year.
last week i did an interview for a job that would have been perfect.
it was even very close to where i live... within a five minute drive.. this morning i got feedback and they really liked me, but decided to go with another candidate.
that sounded uncannily like a fortune cookie message, mega =D
when going for a interview, did you tell the interviewer that you were a jw , and couldn't work meeting nights.
did you think being theocratic would help you get the job ???.
or were you the type to take the job, so you could miss the meetings.
I'm looking up at tinky and I can see that she's not wearing any....... never mind
shhhhhhhh...that was supposed to be our secret!! :P
you know, i was thinking about it, and my little sister is a hardcore JW, and she took every opportunity she could to inform the NUMEROUS employers she petitions for a job that she wasa witness and would need meeting nights off. and she had a hell of a difficult time getting hired...but she blamed it on the fact that people tend to get hired based on their looks!!!

nope. but then again i've only had two jobs in my whole life including the one i'm currently doing, and in both cases i had already made up my mind that i was not going to continue as a JW before i applied.
i admit to it (as i'm spraying on my chanel christalle and putting on my make up.
spent last night tearing through vogue; my mani/pedi appointment is tonight.....).
no, "admit to it" isn't the correct sentiment.
i agree. i love the way bare skin smells. it makes you feel more...connected to the person somehow. it's almost like theyre allwoing themselves to be vulnerable before you. i know that's probably reading way too much into it, but little stuff like that is a big deal to me.
i have heard about this forum from someone, but i won't say who as i don't want to expose them.
i am in the process of evaluating my life as a jw.
it has been a pretty sad life - without a real feeling of 'belonging'.
(((terri))) welcome to the board; i think you'll find there are a lot of really cool people here who can relate to what you've been through. glad you found us! :)
howdy from tx, its been a while since i posted just thought id say hell-o, oh and by the way im vails's brother
Welcome to the board! :)
the wt says "no"... "when harry met sally" says "no"....what say you?????
is it possible to just be friends with the opposite sex?
and how do you feel when your significant other has a "best" friend of the opposite sex?
But every single one of my female friends has a great personality. That, along with everything else, is what attracted me to them in the first place. Without that, what use would they be to me?
well put, teejay. :)
mav - how DARE you? i am NO such thing!! ;)
i had five kids and my wife remembered every ones dob, but i never did learn.
the most embarrassing moment was when i had to take my son to the doctors.
and standing in front of the office i had to asked him how old he was and what was his birthday.
my mom remembered all four of us kids' birthdates. my dad, on the other hand, could barely hazard a guess at how old any of us were. :\
