shortly after it was sent to my father's mother (whom we had never met) and the portrait was never seen again.. since then we had a group picture taken when i was 18 (the week before i got married in 1970).
that was the last time we were together.

The Rainbow and the Flood?
by Blueblades inthere is evidence that the flood of noah's day was local.why then does the account mention that the rainbow is a visible sign from jehovah,a covenant promise that no more would "all flesh" be cut off by waters of a deluge, and no more would there occur a deluge to bring the earth ( land ) to ruin.
( genesis 9:11 - 16 ).. some commentators say that the rainbow had been seen before this and that the flood was only local.that being the case and from all the evidence presented here and on the internet,i believe that it was a local flood.
.why then this rainbow covenant, that never again would man be cut off and the earth, ( land ) be brought to ruin, when we see so much local flooding around the world and man being cut off and the land being ruined today?.

Are JW"S coerced to refuse blood transfusions?
by fearnotruth22 injesus showed the intended purpose of god's laws, when he worked on the sabath, avoided answering the tax question, forgave sinners that were commanded to be put to death by god's law, etc.
what jesus showed when he seemed to be offending god to fanatics was that saving life is more important that obedience to laws.
whatever god meant when he enjoined "abstinance from blood" to christians as belived by the wt, or when he commanded noah not to eat blood, and whatever the meaning is for people today of the laws that prevent the eating of blood and restricted the use of blood, certainly, based the way that jesus showed how god's laws should be applied, it makes sense that god did not mean that one should obey blood laws when eating or transfusing blood is the only means at hand to survive.

LONDON, England (AP) -- The British government reported on Wednesday a patient died of the human form of mad cow disease after a blood transfusion from an infected donor -- the first time such a connection has been reported.Blood donor, recipient die of mad cow disease

YOUR E-MAIL ALERTS Blood transfusion Mad cow disease Great Britain United States or Create your own Manage alerts | What is this? THE HUMAN LINK - Mad cow disease was first reported in the United Kingdom in 1986, peaking in 1993 with almost 1,000 new cases per week.
- In 1996, variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (vCJD) was detected in humans and linked to the mad cow epidemic. Eating contaminated meat and cattle products is presumed to be the cause.
- Both are fatal brain diseases with unusually long incubation periods, often lasting years.
- To date, no case of mad cow disease has been identified in the United States.
Source: CDCHealth Secretary John Reid told Parliament it was not possible to determine whether the transfusion recipient contracted the fatal brain-wasting illness through the blood transfer or whether the two people were independently infected. He said, however, it was the first report supporting the idea that the disease might be transmitted through blood transfusions.
Experts have long suspected that the disease might be spread through blood transfusions and have put in place additional precautions should that prove true.
The transfusion reported Wednesday occurred in 1996, one year before Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) safeguards were applied to the blood supply in Britain, where nearly all variant CJD cases have developed. All blood products for use in operations in Britain are now imported from the United States, where there have been no reported cases of human mad cow disease.
The donor had shown no signs of variant CJD when giving blood in March 1996, but developed the disease three years later, dying the same year from the condition, Reid said.
The recipient of the blood transfusion died this autumn and a post mortem confirmed variant CJD.
"It is therefore possible that the disease was transmitted from donor to recipient by blood transfusion in circumstances where the blood of the donor was infectious, three years before the donor developed variant CJD, and where the recipient developed variant CJD after a 61/2-year incubation period," Reid told lawmakers. "This is a possibility, not a proven causal connection."
The link between the blood donor and the recipient was first reported to officials in the health department last week, at which time doctors had yet to confirm that the recipient had the disease.
"I was first alerted to the developments on Friday, December 12, and was briefed by the Chief Medical Officer on Monday and Tuesday this week," Reid said.
Reid said 15 people in Britain have received blood donations from people who have gone on to develop variant CJD. All of them were being contacted by officials and offered counseling, he said.
There is no blood test to screen for variant CJD, which scientists believe comes from eating products from cows infected with a similar illness, bovine spongiform encephalopathy, also known as BSE or mad cow disease.
Cattle were infected in the late 1980s and early 1990s in Britain after they were fed meat and bone meal from infected animals. Since then, cases have been reported in many other countries, from Europe to Asia. Experts believe the disease was spread through exports of infected animals and meat products.
The human form of mad cow disease so far has claimed 143 victims in Britain and 10 elsewhere.
Three cases of variant CJD -- one each in Ireland, Canada and the United States -- occurred in people who had lived in or visited Britain at the height of the BSE epidemic. The other seven -- six in France and one in Italy -- occurred in people who had not been to Britain.

Thank God for Satan!!
by PopeOfEruke inhow grateful all jw's must be for satan and his rotten wicked old system of things!!!.
for example, i have a relative who has been a regular pioneer non-stop for over 40 years!
as he is now 60 years of age, he is entitled to a pension from the government.

POpe, the WTS has only been arounf foi a hundred and some what years, Give the a break. The new system is comming soon and Satan wont be around then, Also keep in mind that as time goes by the wts will get more and more and money like all the other wealthier religions and who knows if some new light would allow the wts to channel some funds back to the flock. But the misery that some jws get from old satan is nothing comapred to what mainstream orgs get. Semms as Satan favors other religions more because they are getting most of the cash and not jw beggars.

Twenty Billion Pieces of Literature !
by Blueblades in.
watchtower founder charles t.russell authored works totaling some fifty thousand printed pages, and nearly twenty million copies of his books and booklets had been sold by the time of his death.. during joseph f.rutherford's presidency the watch tower society produced twenty-four books,eighty-six booklets, and annual yearbooks,as well as scores of tracts, besides periodical literature.. under the presidencies of nathan h.knorr, frederick w.franz, and milton g.henschel, nearly all jehovah's witness literature has been publish without a byline.. the sect published its ten-billionth ( 10,000,000,000th ) piece of literature at some point during the 1980s.at the current rate of production the twenty-billionth piece will be printed around the year 2,000.. from the book "blood on the altar "by david a.reed page 261.. in the 34 years that i have been associated i wonder how many pieces of their literature was placed in the field by my family.. blueblades

Can the Governing Body be called a "KILLER CULT?
by Blueblades inin 1993 david koresh led more than eighty branch davidians to their deaths in waco texas.. in 1978 some nine hundred followers perished in a mass suicide in jonestown, guyana, under the command of their cult leader, jim jones.. these events sparked great media attention because of their sensational nature, and because so many deaths occurred at once.. but another cult has, over the years, sacrificed untold thousands of lives.these deaths occurring quietly and one at a time, has so far escaped large - scale scrutiny.. more children are dying right now,in obedience to the governing body's ban on blood transfusion, than perished in the fire at waco.this enforcement on blood transfusions reaches into clinics and hospitals.. the governing body instructs jw's.
who are employees in ciinics and hospitals to turn over information from confidential patient records to them.. they also conduct bedside trials of members who accept forbidden medical treatments.they even instruct parents to kidnap their children from hospital beds, and children themselves to resist doctors violently and to give false testimony in court.. how can a major religion headed by a governing body quietly lead victims to early and needless deaths without a public outcry?.
would you say that the governing body of jehovah's witnesses can be called,or are, a "killer cult".. blueblades

I dont think Jw is the only religion that restrict medical treatment. I think that all relions are cults not only jws. The ppeoblm with jw is that one cannot be a passive jw its either fissh or cut bait. Examine the doctrines of any religion and you will se some crazy stuff man. But true to the wts prophecy, relionds will be flushed down the sewer one day and peopel will jus be allowed to have their own personal relation with god in privacy, Im sure people will talk about religion and write books but Im sure that religion as an authority over people will come to an end.

I don't think we should give up praying ever...
by Singing Man ini tend to believe that god does hear prayers, he can ansure them in other planes of time that we don't understand and that we will be in latter in our life or possibly in some other dimension.
i do not think he gives us dead air space after we speak to him.
our request have far reaching implications for us beyond what can understand in our time line that we are living presently.

fearnotruth22
IT makes one feel better to pray. We know that we are at the mercy of the one driving the plane. God has answered my prayers and praying to him gives me a sense of accpeteance and faith knowing that he is in contral and he will no let me dowm. On the other hand I cannot understand why he allows suffering and am in constant fear of something that can happen to me or a love one because he doesnt gurantee safey, So far evryone ha s died incllusing Jesus. I havent seen anything didderent to put faith in.
