((((Mike)))) sorry to hear it. Yet another example of how the JWs "keep families intact." Not.

Well, my little brother is heading back to the Dark Side...
by Michael3000 inthis is so frustrating - just wanted to vent a bit.. .
my younger brother, who has been "inactive" for about 8 years, has decided that everything wrong about his life is due to his not being "right with jehovah".
arrrrrrgh!!!

hmmm, let's see. My parents broke up my first boyfriend and me because we were "too young." I was 19, he was 18. They broke up my second relationship by interrogating the guy. It's okay, he wasn't worth it anyways. My self-righteous good girl attitude following the spirit and letter of the JW rules was the downfall of my next relationship. The next bf (fiance) after that was driven away because of the horrific attitude my parents displayed because 8 years previously my dad had sat on his JC so he wasn't good enough. Fiance couldn't take the disapproval and hostility any longer. Can you say "crash and burn?"
The next two or three relationships crashed and burned because they were "worldly" and I was planning to "go back." Then I met my husband. We got engaged, and damned if my parents didn't try to break us up practically on the eve of our wedding. Their reason: they didn't think he could be a "good spiritual head." Thank gog they were right. Married him anyways. We are happy, and he helped me open my eyes.
Any questions? LOL!

Yes, I've been sucked in to a "going back to the JWs" thread once again.
People, give Hamas a break this week. His BEST FRIEND dumped him for the DUBS. Show a little compassion. We all know how painful that is. He's entitled to feel a little extra bitterness towards anyone who wants to return to that mind-set.
Scooby, don't sell yourself short. If you want to be a Witness, go to it. If you want to feel comfortable in your own skin, and with your sexuality though, you canNOT find it there. I think your divided household has much more to do with the tolerance you have been shown than the "enlightenment" of the individual JWs you are dealing with. You know in your heart that if you go back, even whole-heartedly, eventually your orientation is going to become a problem for your JW friends. You need to really take some time to think about whether YOU feel being gay is wrong or bad. If you go back before you figure that out, it will set you back so far in knowing who you are. I wish you all the best, but please try to take some time for you. Maybe see a counsellor too.

Stupidest thing a JW ever told you
by Nosferatu inwhat is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?
we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.
for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.

The conductor announced at the bookstudy that "If you don't comment at the meetings you are making Satan happy." Never mind how he feels about you being at the meetings. Ha! I think that was the last bookstudy we ever went to.

JAMA article on blood and JWs
by Odrade inon www.watchtower.org there is a reprint of an article from jama (journal of the american medical association) from way back in 1981.. http://www.watchtower.org/library/hb/index.htm?article=article_06.htm.
does anyone have access to back copies of jama?
i'm curious if this is in the editorial section and who the author was.

Thanks Lady Lee! I wonder, are the Dixon and Smalley who are authors of the essay JWs? I know there are/were two characters of that name at Bethel. Hardly an unbiased article to feature as a secular opinion on the WTS website. No wonder they did not print the author credit on there. More than just a little deceptive dontcha think?

Welcome Jill,
Your story really touched me, thank you for writing it. I really appreciated your observations about your brother. They kind of give me something to think about regarding my own brother. Sounds like they are very much alike. You seem like a very compassionate person.

Does anyone have access to back copies of JAMA? I'm curious if this is in the editorial section and who the author was. It's not important, but if someone has access... It's not a particularly offensive article, but recently it's come to my attention that about 1/2 the articles in med journals are just articles. Not scientific research, just an essay some doctor has written that got printed in a med journal. A former employer pointed it out to me. He has had several articles in med journals, but he said they weren't hard facts, just his opinion.

Haha! had a brother (and I use the term marginally) tell me once that if I would "just start pioneering again" it would make me a "very attractive potential mate."
LMAO! which I did at the time. I told him to take a mighty big look at himself, he was a long-haul trucker. Came to the meeting about once a month, but considered himself a spiritual giant. He was forever lecturing me on how I could be more appealing as a "Christian Female." I always (almost) took it like a good little dubbie. Should have given him the two finger salute. HA!
