I hope they continue to make proclamations like this. The more heinous statements they make out loud, the more people will be shocked into waking up and leaving.

Today's Watchtower Lesson Really Bothered Me...
by dontplaceliterature ini was a hair away from telling my wife i never wanted to go to the kingdom hall again after today's watchtower.
the conductor mentioned something along the lines of..."if you think having to shun your disfellowshipped children is bad...you should read up on the israelites.
when one of their children was disobedient to the law, they had to take the before the judges so that they could be stoned to death...and guess who's job it was throw the first stone?".

Fading and the Blood Issue
by brotherdan inhey everyone,.
so most of you know my story and gave me the advice of taking things slow with my wife and not rushing her in regards to leaving the "o".
so i have been taking things slow, saying things that i appreciated from the meetings, and keeping my mouth shut in regards to everything that makes me want to vomit.. last night we were talking (very amiably) about some things that i said on a youtube comment, which she busted me about.

I believe one of the reasons my mother is shunning me (I'm not df'd or da'd) is because I told her that she and dad needed to put their wishes regarding blood and medical treatment in writing. I told her that if I were the one tasked with making their medical decisions for them, I would decided based on what was medically sound, if there were no other documents to the contrary outlining their wishes. The discussion occurred because my mother was telling me that, under no circumstances would she take any fractions, even if they are now supposedly a conscience matter.
At the time, I found all of this especially ironic, as her best friend at Bethel was one of the primary researchers who wrote the pamphlet/article (4 years ago?) explaining and outlining a large portion of the "fractions" policy. A year or so prior to the conversation, I had opportunity to view the final draft of this article and its accompanying illustrations. This was before my mother became aware of the fact that we were never going back, and that I would prefer to rely on the advice of real physicians, rather than researchers for the WT writing department.
They simply don't think rationally about the subject. They react as though you'd requested them to eat a meal of dog poo blended with strychnine.

"There's no one that thinks you have any practical value as a family member. "
Wow, you're a nasty piece of work, aren't you?

Troubled: most of the proteins that cause the issues are directly related to diet. If you can put the cat on a no grain food (raw diet or no-grain processed food) you might find it resolves most of the allergy problems.

Are more men leaving the WT than women???
by changeling intalking to a couple fellow posters the other day i made the observation that there seem to be more men on this board, and, in particular, more married men whose wives are still "in".
i could be wrong about this, but that's how it seems to me.... so, provided my observation is true, why do ya'll think that is?
why are men waking up while the women lag behind?

Well, either that, or when women leave, they have more things to get done, so aren't spending as much time around here. ;-)

Have your views on gays changed over the years?
by laverite insome questions....feel free to answer any or all of these.
have your views of gay people changed over the years?
do you have or have you ever had gay friends?
-
Odrade
Yep, my views have changed. I never could quite go along with the mindset that it was bad, always believed it was genetic, in spite of what the WT said, but when I was a JW, I believed it was broken genetics, that something had gone wrong with the wiring. I thought it was a genetic aberration, like bad eyesight, or 6 toes, and that it would all get "fixed" in the New Systemâ„¢.
Now I still believe it's genetics, but more like brown eyes or blue eyes. It's not broken, it's just different from me.

The only positive thing about this whole article is that they eventually croak and turn into worm food. Gee, did I sound bitter? Hmmm... turns out I'm NOT that crazy about dictatorial policies that kill people...

Newly Exiting JW's ( Last 5 years ) How are you Doing in Life? Let Us Know
by flipper inconsidering the fact we've had so many newbies here i thought it would be good to just open it up to you folks to see how life is going for you since you exited the witnesses ?
it's hard many times to move on- however with lots of ex-witnesses on the board here who have been through similar experiences - perhaps those of us who have been out awhile can give you someideas on how to move on in your post jw life to make it a little easier .
so fire away newbies and recently exited jw 's.

the family always got the short end of the stick
No kidding, huh? I feel sorry for my dad. He really tried, but he was often so tired, and always there were people "needing" his attention. And his obligations to the WTS made it so he really couldn't say no. I've known elders who resigned because they weren't able to spend time with their families, and felt their wives and small children were being neglected, but sadly they were often guilted into being reappointed.
What a waste of good minds and good hearts.

I'm a little outside your "5 years or so" window, but things are going pretty great. Lots of laughing and joking, and new friends, and adventures. Business is pretty good (that business I created once I finally had free time to get some training...,) I have two spoiled rotten dogs - never "had time" for dogs before. We had a delightful time last weekend with some visiting friends, and had a lovely dinner and a couple of bottles of wine with no worries about getting up in the morning in time to go for Sunday Browbeating, I mean Meeting.
There have certainly been casualties of our exit - my mother no longer speaks to me, it has been almost 2 years, although I'm not sure that's a bad thing, it certainly cuts down on the crazy in my life. We don't have as much contact with husband's parents though, either, and that's kind of sad. Certainly don't miss the preaching from them.
The JWs come around here periodically, but I don't think they even remember who we are, or if we do, they skip our house, and send JW n00bs who don't know us, so we're not afraid to be out in the yard on a Saturday (and at this point, wouldn't be anyways.) If they come by, I just politely tell them "no thank you," and they're on their way.
I still get angry about all the lies, missed opportunities, lost years, but feel such a great weight off my shoulders and such freedom! I know active JWs can never believe that, but I never knew just how imprisoned I was until I was free of the WTS' iron shackles.
