  I agree with pc on this one.

  I've been at my current job, a fairly good sized casino, since just after my escape so all the old timers at work have seen how much I've changed in the last ten years. When I was first out I talked about "the cult I grew up in" on a regular basis. I don't talk about it much anymore but whenever anyone at work has an issue with the witnesses, be it how do I get them to stop coming to my door, or my family members are studying with them, they seek me out or are sent to me for advice.

  I wonder if the local congregations are wondering about the unusual amounts of people in the area asking to be added to the "do not call" list?

  I think I fell into an in between category. I didn't ever do anything I could be in trouble for, out of respect for my mother / fear of my mother. I'd always answer at least once in a meeting but always the giveaway answer. (raise hand, say Jehovah) However my dad was a biker with a wee bit of a record and my little brother was the congregation's resident bad "mofo". I was ostracised more than a little for those reasons. As a result, I never thought of myself as being good little dubbie and thought my "weakness" was obvious.

  After I left (I sprung it on 'em all at once and immediatley moved out of town) I was shocked when they all seemed shocked. My brother said there wasn't a single one of them, including himself, who thought I was anything but a devoted "lifer". Go figure.

  What Is The Stupidest Rule You've Encountered As a Witness?

  one rule that i never could understand is that if you were studying with an unbelieving husband, you could associate with him, even as couples, but if a person was considered a "weak" witness, it was best to avoid any association until that person changed......what dumb rule or belief comes to your mind??

  All that women are the weaker vessel mumbo jumbo. I agree with Wick that headcoverings, particularly the fast food napkin kind, are not where it's at.

  We had the skirt length battles all the time just like Sassy talks about. One elder in particular used to make us kneel to check our skirt lengths.

  Not being able to watch or own products relating to the Smurfs, ET, Care Bears, etc.... due to their demonic influence was the most bizarre rule to me.

  Liquor/Mixed Drink survey

  ok, i've done the beer survey, now its the mixed drinks survey.. i personally like the 4 horseman (1/4 jack 1/4 rum 151, 1/4 everclear, and 1/4 tequila).

  it'll put you on your ass quick.

  i also like a good bull buster (yager w/ red bull).

  That's kind of like a 3 wise men- Jack, Jim, and Jose Cuervo, but much more wicked!

  I personally really like a Colorado Bulldog-

  1oz. Vodka (This can be substituted with Captain Morgan to make a Cap'n Bulldog)

  1oz. Kahlua

  1/2 oz. Dark Cream de Cacao (optional but I think it smooths out the rough spots)

  Dash of Cream and fill with Pepsi, on the rocks. Hazelnuts on top optional, but really yummy.

  i only know a handful of witnesses, but i do know several ex-witnesses.

  all of them left in their late teens, which (as i've read here) is pretty common.

  i know there are a lot of people here who left later in life.

  As far as me just "throwing crap out there", I did list my source, for the quote. Maybe the book I got it from didn't check the validity of the quote. That I don't know. Also I never implied George W. was a racist and I don't think the quote does either. What it does show is Bush's lack of knowledge regarding other cultures. This was just one example of many. I guess, I can concede if he was trying to speak a foreign language at the time this statement occurred that the language barrier would have been quite an obstacle for Mr. Bush to overcome.

  His lack of the ability to speak the English good is what most of these quotes are about and there is ample proof of his lack of ability in this arena. I find it very entertaining that the "Leader of the Free World" has such diffuculty expressing his ideas and thoughts.

  By the way, I'm not a Clinton fan either.

  Nice quotes double edge - I especially like the first one. It's nice to see the flip side too.

  seems like when i was a kid, you could'nt go to a meeting without hearing screams of pain from either the b room or the bathrooms.

  ((Debradoll)) Your dad sounds just like one of my best friends stepdad's. I hope he's in jail too!

  My brother and I were of the hauled to the basement of the hall and beaten with a wooden spoon class. My brother was constantly being grabbed by various Elders who felt my mom's beatings weren't forceful enough to get through to him. Probably because at a really young age, about 4 or 5, he started taunting her every time she'd spank him. "Is that all you've got?" "You can't hurt me!" and he had a horrible maniacal laugh to go with the taunting. He used to fight back with all he had every time too. You'd think that would have sent the message that maybe beating him wasn't the answer. One elder in particular wouldn't just spank him, but would all out beat him.

  I used to have a really similar coloring book as a kid. I think it came from Stoop's Leather catalog. Owned by dubbies for dubbies. We also had a super lame JW trivia game called Tree of Life made by Stoops.

  Anyway I really like the "No Supermarkets" picture! LMAO!
