It also prevents them from being asked questions face to face that cannot be answered because even they don't know what the truth is anymore. Like online dating, what they see is not what they will get once they actually meet the real deal. In truth, they could not stop anyone who wants to design a bunch of tracts directing them to this website instead.

Controversial Opinion: Why the web site campaign is actually brilliant
by Apognophos inthere's a lot of talk right now about how stupid it is to have jws hand out leaflets with urls on them.
"why go to someone's door to tell them they can visit a web site that lets them ask for someone to come to their door?
" well, i'm sorry, but i have to weigh in with a contrary opinion here on how clever the society is.

Will the JW.Org Site make a difference ?
by Phizzy init will obviously make a difference to how jw's obtain their literatrash, they will have to download and print it all themselves before long.. it will make a small difference to the dtod work, they will now refer even genuine questions and interest etc to the site, not taking the opportunity to "witness" on the initial call at all.
this has been happening already to a degree.. the difference i am mainly interested in is the capture of new suckers in to the borg.. we will be able to see when we get 2014's figures, sometime next year, what the rate of increase was over the last ten years.. phizzy the prophet predicts that the rate of increase over the next ten years will not be significantly up.
probably down, but certainly, i feel, not so different from the last ten.. should i be around in ten years to do so, i will wish to ask jw's:.

I visited the website today and clicked on the publications tab, and out of 61 publications listed, I am only familiar with 8, and those are the oldest of the publications found on pages 5 and 6. I have been inactive for over 15 years, and today I find this organization unrecognizable. I remember singing my heart out to songs like Make the Truth Your Own, Keep Your Eyes on the Prize, and so many others in that burgandy songbook. Although we now know the the real truth about the doctrines and concepts of the religion, the former organization had something that kept you there.

Something Big is Coming...
by notsurewheretogo inthe annual meeting of the governing body of jehovah's witnesses will be in october 2014.. .. in november 2013, just after the last one they published this now famous statement in the 15th of november 2013 watchtower page 16 paragraph 17 says:.
"at that time, the lifesaving direction that we receive from jehovahs organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint.
all of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not.".

If I were still in, a change in doctrine wouldn't surprise me. It would have to be an announcement so surprising as to be unbelievable, making those inside question whether or not to believe it and therefore, making those who worship the man made god Jehovah, that genious creation of the WBTS, to go against all human reasoning and obey. It just can't be the same old thing, it has to be something "new."

Full-time service is MORE IMPORTANT than taking care of elderly parents!!! It says so in the Sept 2014 WT
by EndofMysteries inparagraph 20 out of the article in the sept 2014 study wt about fulltime service says this.... .
"full-time servants age, and so do their parents.
when parents are witnesses, likely their fondest wish is for their children to stay in their assignments.

Where is the love? I would not be surprised if one of the things they ask members to do that 'may sound unreasonable from a human standpoint' will be to put aging parents to death by some undetectable means because they are becoming a burden to the work......

What is the key to free yourself from the Organization?
by suavojr inthey key to free yourself from the organization is having mental clarity of what is happening in relation to the watchtower, inside and out.
their basic concept is that they are god's sole organization on earth.
there really is no basis for anyone to make that statement.

One of the most important things for me was realizing that the mentality there was purely superstitious. 'If you leave, you will die'...no, you will not. For in that day your eyes will become opened, and you will finally begin to live. After almost 20 years out I am still here, to their dismay I'm sure.

How much longer for the congregation book (sorry bible) study?
by Saltheart Foamfollower inafter the recent decision to ditch the cbs during the circuit visit, i've started wondering if it is the first step to losing it altogether.
at the current rate, the draw close book will be finished at the end of next year.
based on the way things are going, even the most recent publications will be out of date by then (acts book and organization brochure were out of date when studied) so what is the point of doing them.

DesirousOfChange: you stated 'I don't see it ever going back into the homes of publisher. I don't know why this was halted.' There were many problems with this arrangement in our area. Usually a sister was the one who opened up her home and lots of times the elder conducting the study would arrive before everyone else, thereby causing a problem for the sister who found herself left in her home alone with the brother. In one area, the sister began dating an unbeliever unbeknownst to the congregation and eventually had sexual relations with him inside her home without confessing it to the brothers. Eventually it was found out and the sister was disfellowshiped and there went the book study arrangement; those who attended thereafter had to meet for the book study at the hall. I am sure other problems existed with the arrangement as well.
As for an update to the Reasoning Book, if you currently have a copy of the original I would definitely keep it. What a great source of misinformation to pass on to newer ones.

This year marks my 17th anniversary of freedom; I did not leave behind a letter, did not request a meeting, and never told anyone why I left. The fact that they never inquired after all these years only serves to prove my reason for leaving was based on absolute fact, absolute truth: there is absolutely no love there whatsoever. An entire body of "shepherds" that never looked for a lost sheep??? I put in 24 years of service....

Ray Franz - is he REALLY a hero?
by baltar447 inon one hand, he's enlightnened many to the internal circle jerk that is the governing body (circa the 70s).. but if there's one reason that can be pointed to for the jws becoming full on cult, it's ray franz.
without him leaving in the manner he did, and stirring the pot, they might not have change the rule (retroatively i might add) on shunning of disassociated ones.
they specifically changed that so they could remove him and eliminate his influence.. his actions single handedly have created the situation where we have to fade, evade, leave marriages, say goodbye to family, just because we don't buy the jw bullsh!t anymore.

I left the organization in 1997 due to the absolute lack of love amongst the body of elders, which included taking me off the school without a hearing or explanation as to why, the refusal to give me copies of the kingdom ministry, and their insistance upon others not to show me any love. I did not read Ray's books until about ten years or so after that and will say that after doing so, although they weren't the cause of my leaving, they play an important part in why I will never return. In the 17 years since I left, not one sheparding call. If there is an Almighty God, I will take my chances with Him alone. Never again will I become a part of any religious organization. I did my time.

Hello Everyone. I am new here, but have been lurking for quite some time. I really enjoy the interchange of experiences here and can honestly say that everyone has an opinion that is important. The reason I wanted to make a comment on this particular topic is because, after being out of the organization for amost 20 years, it shows how indoctrinated we are. I am referring to the the title of the article. When I read the words 'Moving Ahead' I began to think: didn't we at one time sing a song called Move Ahead With Maturity? The lyrics that popped into my mind were: move ahead, move ahead to maturity; it's the will of our God that you gain maturity; try your best to improve in your ministry; and then our God your work will bless; there is a place in the service for all; it is the work Jesus did you'll recall;....something like that. Sorry for such a lengthy post but my point is, no matter how long we have been out, or how far removed we are from it, the slightest thing can make us recall one of those songs we haven't sung in 20 years...it all never really goes away, does it... Anyway, just wanted to jump in. Thanks
