No! I'm better off now than when I was a witness. Normal as one can be normal. I live a quiet life now. No more hectic running around. Much more settled in. Doing the normal everyday things. Work, rest, enjoyment. Free to do what I want.

thats right, about 2 weeks ago i confronted the po and told him i just could not do it anymore.. i genuinely have been under alot of pressure recently with my work so i used this as the pitch.
he was not happy but i received little resistance, which suited me.
i handed him my letter last week before i went on holiday.. i have to say it is a great weight off my shoulders, no book study, meetings for ministry, talks, public talks etc etc.. i will no doubt be the subject of local congregation gossip!
Scottman, Nice! Hi five! You can breathe now, no more tight feeling in your chest. Live long and prosper! May the real force be with you. Now you can really have a nice day
short term, what do you feel the recent changes the organization has seen and is about to see will do to the witnesses and the society as a whole?.
long term do you feel the changes will do anything positive for the society?.
its very much like big brother with double-speak, mind control and fear.
Most rank and file will roll with the punches.
ok, so i am at my in-laws house and i see a letter from the society that is laying out .
it seems that the elders school is going on between february and june on 2008. they want you to mark every week you are available to come to the school (to increase your chance of being selected).
they even have a spot if you are not going to attend.
When I went to the Elders school, it was mandatory for all to be there. Has this changed?

ok then male football fans.
the question is:.
if you had to give up either football or women which one would it be?.
Football, but then again as Zeroday looks at it, there is always halftime.Putting it in reverse, we can have women during the long time of football play and at halftime catch up on the game. This way we can have our cake and eat it too

NVR, Good reminder of what its like in other parts of the world. I try to keep that in mind. I agree, when we compare what we have here with what others are suffering around the world, we could always have it worse.

Mini, you use to dance, the avatar danced. I think Simon did something that stopped it.
It would be cooler if you danced like in the old days.

in the interest of self-healing and finding the peace that comes from being grateful, can you think of anything at all that was positive about having been one of jehovah's witnesses?.
not to be misunderstood with missing something about it, is there something about the experience that has enriched you?.
to answer the question myself, being forced to face the fallacies of the teachings of jwism, i was also prompted to look past those teachings and reevaluate everything i believed in.. that experience was frightening and unsettling, but i'm thankful for it.. i now have a greater appreciation for life in all its wonder than i did when i took it for granted as one of jehovah's witnesses.. i'm more determined now to find meaning in this life, after having lived for so long for a future that was never to arrive..
NVR. Seriously, upon reflection on your question, I see nothing about my JW past that I should be thankful for. They kept me and my family captive for some 33 years, that was the prime of our lives. We gave them our youth, our strength, our resources. All that time we never realized the past lying history that The Watchtower kept hidden from us. Once we did realize it and came to know that we were captives of an Illusionary concept, it was then that we broke free and said no thanks. The cost of those 33 years cannot be calculated financially, emotionally, psychologically etc.
As far as others feeling that they got something to be thankful for, well, good for them.

soliciting your comments as well!
please take a moment to post a comment, even if brief.
share your experience and keep the topic active.. .
Once again you have shown that we have proof that there is no Holy Spirit guiding the writing department, the proof readers or the Governing Body who approve the article for print and study.
I like the way you explain each paragraph. We can read between the lines so to speak. Those of us who have come to know what The Watchtower is really about are the ones who have the real life, living for now, one day at a time. Not for some invisible "Carrot". Thanks again.
