i need some information, and i hope that someone on this forum can help me.. yesterday, my mother in law was telling my wife about the wonderful wt study yesterday morning.
apparently, it was the one where they discuss the annual report for last year.. she mentioned that the article pointed to a 30% increase in baptisms.
since we don't have the article, we have no idea what she is talking about.
Gave evidence of being spiritually alert by spending xxx amount of hours in talking to others about the kingdom?
Earlier they wrote that activity has nothing to do with spirituality, its whats inside of us that determines our spirituality, not our meeting attendence nor our field service activity.

how god says things: god uses a basic pattern in communicating to man.. first,he gives a command or a promise.. second, the bible tells of man's response.. third,a word of evaluation is given.. power for living goes on to say that this simple pattern repeats itself throughout the whole bible.. it gives an example: at the very beginning of the bible, god creates the world with his word.god then tells man to take care of the world ( garden ).he tells adam that he will be rewarded with eternal life if he obeys.. this is the first step, the command / promise.adam is commanded to do something, and a promise is given in relationship to that command.the promise is not always given right after the command, and sometimes the promise is given and the command is implied.. the second step, after the command / promise we read of man's response.adam and eve's response.he set out to do what god told him to do.the right kind of response, ( my comment,up to here things look good for them, eternal life is within their grasp.).
but, another kind of response to god's command/promise is seen.satan tempts adam and eve to disobey god's command/promise and substitutes a new command/promise.he says,do what god told you not to do and you will be like god's.. they listened to satan and that was their response to god's command/promise.. next, the third step ,god's evaluation and the result of that evaluation bring us to where we are today.no eternal life, so,power for living says this is how god says things.command/promise,response, and evaluation/judgment.
Gumby, now I'm going to read everyone of your posts, and I will agree to disagree with you from time to time. And I will agree to agree with you from time to time And then there will be" DUNNO "? At least I'll get to know......HOW (GOD--) and GUMBY SAYS THINGS !
Is it to be born, grow old-aging,become decrepit, sickly then die ,then become a new spirit creature and never die! Then what explains the existing spirit creatures that were never human .
Was it intented to never die ,human life without end? Afterall the human body does replenish itself but, all of a sudden starts to break down, why?
What is the purpose of human life? Without the explanation written in all the so-called holy books, and the explanations are varied, all the brilliant minds don't have an answer.

Especially Bethel Elders and C.O.'s when it came to raising your family. What and How you should be doing with the family from the time you get up until the time you went to bed.
Then when Bethel Elders got married and the wife got pregnant even with all that birth control stuff floating around Bethel. They suddenly forgot how to give advice to those with families.
One Elder in particular had to leave Bethel and his kids were no angels in the hall .He finally left the state. But,when he use to visit to show off his kids ,they still were in need of discipline in the hall. I wondered how he was not able to follow his own advice to others that he dished out when now he has a family of his own.
Hi Vivamus! Enjoy these days with your Dad while you can.I miss my Dad. I should of listened to him 30 something yrs. ago.He tried to warn me way back then about the WT.Society.He use to tell me, ,just who do they think they are JESUS CHRIST Himself. When he had them over he would take over the Bible study and they couldn't control him,so, they stopped coming to see him.I sure wish I could tell him now how right he was way back then. Next weeks meeting, see this week. When you enter the kingdom hall and they close the doors you have entered the twilight zone. Then when the meeting gets underway you will hear,"There is nothing wrong with your mind,we have taken control ,do not attempt to leave ,you have reached the outer limits." Two of my favorite tv shows ,The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. The WT.meetings have gone too far, they actually are in the twilight zone and have reached the outer limits.

Gumby,It's done all the time,in all areas of references.People quote other people's books ,organizations, teachings, even when they don't believe in such and such. It's done in all the schools of thought to give an opposing view to any given subject.
For example:The site QUOTES is instrumental in using the WT's own words to help others to see the opposing view right out of their own organizational teachings .
Another example :Those who believe in different opposing views on the ORIGIN OF LIFE will use reference works of each others to establish support for their thinking even if each one does not believe in the other's views.

Gumby, I feel the same way you do.When I use the Bible,I do it for those who accept that belief system, looking for them to make sense out of the senseless.
