  Are those out of the org. in better mental health than those in?

  i was wondering if those in the jw organization would be in better or worse mental health than those who quit the organization?

  any thoughts?

  CAS.I knew you were not serious when writing that stuff.Now seriously.

  The subject of mental health among jw's deserves far more study than it has received.

  For on the one hand,the Watchtower Society asserts that jw's are among the healthiest of persons from a psychological standpoint.While,on the other,some psychologists and psychiatrists claim that they suffer from a disproportionately high degree of mental illness.

  There are factors characteristic of witness life itself which undoubtedly bring about a degree of mental illness.Zealous pioneers have on many occasions sacrificed both their physical and mental health out of a spirit of devotion.Some elders and publishers also give of themselves to the point of exhaustion.

  At the same time,attitudes of super-pietism, and over-righteousness also have a detrimental effect on some of the persons manifesting them,and additionally on those who are objects of this attitude toward them.

  Even a number of prominent witness officials,have become severely mentally ill.Branch servants,legal,and board of directors included in this number.

  This information is found in the book,"APOCALYPSE DELAYED"by M.JAMES PENTON.page 288,Witness Mental Health.There are four and a half documented pages on this subject.

  Now for every scripture that is positive with God's blessing concerning drinking,there are many that warn of the dangers of too much drinking.

  So,what is too much,each must decide for oneself.However,moderation in all things is the best way.

  One must also take into consideration that one causes no harm to oneself or others.The purpose of drinking should result in joy,relaxation,refreshment,good effects on the heart and body and soul.

  To go contrary to this and cause harm to yourself and others defeats the purpose of it all.

  To the SERPENT.

  so the lord god said to the serpent:"because you have done this,you are cursed more than all cattle,and more than every beast of the field;on your belly you shall go,and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.

  the cattle and all the rest of creation were cursed as a result of adam and eve's eating,but the serpent was uniquely cursed by being made to slither on its belly.it probably had legs before this curse.now snakes represent all that is odious,disgusting, and low.they are branded with infamy and avoided with fear.

  help me understand this.god curses a physical serpent !!

  The cattle and all the rest of creation were cursed as a result of Adam and Eve's eating,but the SERPENT was uniquely cursed by being made to slither on its belly.It probably had legs before this curse.Now SNAKES represent all that is odious,disgusting, and low.They are branded with infamy and avoided with fear.

  Help me understand this.God curses a PHYSICAL SERPENT !! So, now all Snakes are changed physically to crawl on their belly and eat dust because of what a spirit creature did to them,by using a snake to deceive Eve.

  The cattle and all creation are suffering because of an invisible cunning ,deceitful,spirit creature who had the upper hand on this weak,seducible woman.

  In no court of law,when a woman is seduced is she held accountable.Her seducer is usually punished not her.Nor are the pets she owns i.e.the animals in the garden,punished.

  What in the world did the physical snake do ,also the cattle and beast,do to God to warrant so much suffering,taking from a beautiful garden to a cold and survival of the fittest eat each other environment,and for the animals to ultimately get eating by man?

  And I used to believe this!

  i knew i had a bright mind, i had been told that my whole life.

  she hated going out in service but since i hated it myself we didn't go do the door to door work much.

  i look back now and i can't believe how controlling and un-loving that religion had made me.

  Dancing To The Devil's Tune.

  you heard of the saying,"dancing to the devil's tune".did satan take the initiative of god out of his hands,making his whole course a constant reaction to what the devil would do?is everything on hold,until the' devil's tune 'is over?.

  i read this somewhere,what do you think?anyone know where the saying,"dancing to the devil's tune originated from?.

  the next day was going to be tough.

  i had to do kind of a portfolio check session with the illustrators and work on some photo retouching for an up coming italian awake magazine and work with someone from the graphics department on the miniaturization issue.

  as i walked around a little bit i noticed a large hell scanner sitting in a room with a plastic tarp over it.

  I was walking besides you,so engrossing,you remind me of the times when I was a boy and we use to go to the movies and they were done in chapters,to be continued, just as the train was coming to run over the damsel in distress,or batman and superman were in a jam ,to be continued,we were on the edge of our seats and couldn't wait for the next chapter.

  Having It Both Ways?--A Defining Characteristic

  the poster said i could post it here.

  it shows why it is hard to reason with anyone in the organization.. when individuals leave the organization for conscience reasons, it is evidence that god is shepherding and protecting the flock by doing a sifting work.

  We don't disfellowshipp anyone for taking a blood transfusion ( Bulgaria ) They have shown that they no longer want to be one of J.W'S when they do this and have disassociated themselves from jw's.

  You must not buy a political card in Africa ( Malawi ).Its ok to bribe an official in ( Mexico )to get a political card.

  The Pinata has religious significance.We found that for many people in Mexico,that the pinata has lost its religious significance. ( how did they find that out? )

  And after condemning many religious practices they now say,"A main concern is,not what the practice meant hundreds of years ago,but how it is viewed today in your area.On and on it goes.

  Adam and Eve---Mere Myth ?

  even when we dismiss the bible,belief in an original paradise that was lost because of sin was wide-spread among the ancient babylonians,assyrians, egyptians,and others.common to many accounts was a tree of life the fruit of which would confer eternal life on those partaking of it.so mankind remembera that something tragic happened in eden.. scientists acknowledge that the human race is a single family with a common origin.. so,bible or not,could there be any truth,proof,about this event,is it possible to have eternal life on earth or, are the stories among the ancients only myths?.

  Thank you all for your thoughts on this topic.The one thing that gets in the way of my dismissing the Adam and Eve account is : Jesus' words to the Pharisees,"Have you not read that He who made "THEM"at the beginning made them male and female..."

  While,I am aware that what Jesus said in the Bible is also put into question because the belief in the
  "Inspired Word of God" is also just that ,it is based on a" Belief System."

  With that on the side,that is putting Jesus' statement about the Adam and Eve account on the side,what do I have left?

  Either its true or its mere myth.Either the ancients have something to say about this,and the Bible is picking up on what the ancients believe,or,its all left up to each and every one of us to personally research and then decide.

  As for me answering my own topic,???????? undecided.
