  millions have died in africa from civil wars where the governments have squandered money on bombs guns and tanks, whilst allowing millions more to die of malaria, diarrhoea and other treatable diseases.

  thousands more have died in nigeria from religious killing than ebola.. and now big bad america is the one they all turn to (in mainly muslim countries) to save them, just like kuwait did in 1991.

  #1 Somebody catches the virus that has never been to Africa

  #2 Somebody catches the virus from an uknown contact (outside of Africa)<- If this happens anywhere near you assume the virus is everywhere and it wil be time to head for the hills.

  Life as you know it would radically change very suddenly some time between those two events, if not from the virus itself but by the actions of your government. In Libera they suddenly force quarented 70,000 people. They recieved no warning to stock up on supplies.

  Giordano excpt what you are saying about how it is spreading is NOT born out by the facts. While I don't think there is evidence of regular spread by air, there IS lots of evidence of spread through very casual contact. Norovirus does not spread by air... but we all know how easily and fast that virus spreads.

  This is why this important. If the current rate of spread contenues there will hundreds of thousands of cases by December and will will be in the millions of caes in the first half of next year. Even if it stays in Africa there is still the potential of millions of deaths.

  With several hundred thousand cases by December do you really think they can keep it in africa?

  Every month you wait to act... the estimated cost of containing this grows by tenfold. We might already be too late, I pray we are not.

  Hamsterbait I totally hear what you are saying. However in this particular case... the potential for a horrific outcome is so great for the entire world we HAVE to do what ever we can. As soon as we have moved from the crisis phase THEN it will be time to talk about the politics of it.

  Pistoff yes there is some racism in this country. However I really believe our opession with race is much worse. Our temptation to filter EVERY news story through the lense of race keeps race baiting and racism alive and well.

  While it is contiversial to say... I really believe the biggest challenges facing the black community comes from the black comunity. Constantly beating on the white racists strawman keeps the focus from where it should be.

  has anyone had this line said to them when there was questioning involved?

  did it irritate you because when questioning did happen that line was almost always used as a shut down to keep you from going any further and to make you feel guilty in the process?

  because we're just idiotic and feeble minded human beings, so surely we can't possibly begin to question the likes of god.

  So I was having a talk with a JW about the world getting "worse and worse" leading to the end. She quoted a scripture to support her argument. I disagreed with her. She said something along the lines of "who are you to question scripture"

  What she didn't understand was I wasn't questioning scripture I was just questioning her interpetation of it. In her mind though, I guess there was no distinction to be made.

  So it appears there is one perp and one vic and nobdy was serriously hurt. Why is this news? If every time I got into a fight as a child made the news, I would be a very famous guy right now :)
