Has anyone heard any Watchtower PR spin or censorship advisory announcement at the kingdom hall regarding the child abuse story on NPR?
by Island Man ini remember some years ago when barbara did an expose of the child abuse issue on one of the networks, watchtower used the elders to inform the congregations not to view the program that was to be aired.
.
after this recent expose on npr, has there been any official watchtower release read as an announcement at the kingdom hall?.

Does NPR even have a big enough of an audience to be concerned about? -

Are we pro-shunning or against it?
by Simon injust to continue my theme about religious freedom and how we approach criticizing the wts, i've also been thinking about 'shunning'.. i think shunning is the most unifying complaint that most ex-members of religious groups that practice it have in common.
it is the layer that runs under every other complaint - whatever the reason for leaving it seems "... and i was shunned" can be added to it as the final rap on the charge sheet.. of course it seems like a no-brainer to many of us and we hardly ever stop to really think about it - shunning is bad, the watchtower believes in shunning therefore the watchtower is bad.
they need to stop it.

She needed to ask clear and pointed questions. Those poor bethelites had to hear hear verbal diarrhea.
The only question I heard was "What is the point of the videos" pretty vague if you ask me.

Pope thinks hitting children is "Beautiful"
by cofty inone time, i heard a father in a meeting with married couples say `i sometimes have to smack my children a bit, but never in the face so as to not humiliate them.how beautiful!
he knows the sense of dignity!
he has to punish them but does it justly and moves on.

Thank you Simon for
"The only exceptions are not really "punishment" but where you may slap a child's hand away from a fire or hot pan or grab them roughly if they looked like they were running out into the road."
While I might have a slightly broader understanding of the same concept we are not that far a part. All I was hearing was that any physical discipline was always abuse.
As a young child spankings where not effective on me. I have a high pain tolerance and I can be stubborn. As soon as I could talk, talking was the best way to discipline. me. My brother on the other hand was very different. He was hyperactive, obstinate, and probably had a touch of fetal alcohol syndrome(he was adopted so we don't really know his background). You had to get his attention for him to listen. After a good smack he would slow down and listen to what you had to say.
Look every child is different. The skills of every parent are different. It is very difficult to make a broad statement of what is acceptable and what is not acceptable in every circumstance.

My criteria for when physical punishment might acceptable...
The consequences of the child action must be worse than getting spanked (way better to be spanked than hit by a car or burned by a stove)
It shall not be motivated by parents anger. Often parents hit her kids because it makes THEM feel better. That is abuse. The parent shall be totally over their anger and be in a totally calm loving mood when they conduct the punishment.
Only open bare hands are to be used by the parent. (The parent needs to feel it just as much as the child does)
Only the clothed backside or the back of the child's hands are acceptable.
Spanking should only be considered if a verbal lesson would not work. You can not explain the consequences of a child's action to them and teach them a lesson before they are fully verbal. Once a child is fully verbal it should be EXTREMELY rare.

Would you guys consider a smack to the back of a young child's hand with a parents bare hand abuse?
I have said it before but I will say it again... emotional abuse is FAR worse than physical abuse. Kids get hurt all the time. They are clumsy and they have no fear. Being physically hurt usually does not scar the child.
It is the yelling and emotional abuse that goes along with the physical abuse the damages the kid. It is the yelling and screaming, the feeling of not being good enough, the feeling of being rejected by your parent that does the harm.

Please vaccinate your children
by Viviane inand remember your boosters as adults!.
currently there is a measles outbreak in the u.s. the outbreak is clustered into communities where parents choose not to get their children vaccinated.
vaccination works primarily on herd immunity.

"Vaccines did not save us"
https://childhealthsafety.wordpress.com/graphs/
Have you ever looked through any of the charts in this article? The assumption that all these horrible diseases would be rampant today without vaccines is not well founded. Most of our public health advances happened either before or separate from vaccines. So while vaccine opponents occasionally show irrational fear. I would say those wishing to force vaccination on everybody are ALSO succumbing to irrational fear.

How do Americans feel about Canadians and Britons interjecting their opinions onto hot localized political topics: gun laws, abortion, ect?
by adjusted knowledge inin addition to the above question, why do citizens of the two above mentioned countries, or other countries, feel the necessity to tell americans how they should interpret the american constitution for localized issues?.
i fairly much have an idea what the general population in the usa feels in regards to the first question.
this could be one of the possible reasons cnn piers morgan poor ratings and eventual firing.

What would be fascinating if some one wanted to do the research (if it was even possible) I want to know how many cumulative unique people have partaken over the years. The over/under would be 144K. Do think the real number is higher or lower?
