I think that's the first time I've ever disagreed with you, Viv!
Fair enough. Allow me, kindly, to be more accurate. *I* didn't do that.

i have been coming around these forum for quite some time now so whatever you find in here is not just related to something someone may have said this week.
it can go months back as well.. i have seen many who claim to respect the belief of others but when it comes down to applying it into practice, things take a whole different tune.

It's easy to part quote a sentence or paragraph and take it out of context.
It is. However, no one did that.
As this O.P is " On the respect of the beliefs of others..." Rather than go off topic, I will take some Dr Phill advice and not engage in any further perdantic details.
I've no idea what you're talking about.

I was surprised due to our past communication such a comment was even suggested.
You said "each persons reality is in my opinion to be respected".
I asked because it's clear you really DON'T think that.
I was was referring to how an individual's opinion shouldn't be influenced by an organisation, the media or any individual friend to be confused and corrupted by other people.
That would mean that no one can persuade anyone at any time for any reason.

And each persons reality in my opinion is to be respected ,not the power of the organisation, the media or the individual to confuse and corrupt other people to brilliant and sincere thoughts that may be wrong.
Do you support the "reality" that NAMBLA, antivaxxers and the religious who choose to let their children die rather than get medical care are claiming is real?
..your experience with the watchtower corporation:.
i'll start...... bully boy elders.
In the past.
I've moved on.
Saved my kids.
F those f*ckers.

I don't personally agree with it but I think it's because a person's identity, their belief about the purpose of life and their view on life after death are usually tied up with their religion.
If they choose to bring it up for discussion, how tied up and invested in that ideas falls under the category of "You should have about that before you decided to bring the topic up, theist."

didn't tell me much more, did you, Viv.
In fact, it seems as if you told me the least amount possible.
This may shock you, but I don't always have time for detailed responses and sometimes I prefer to give short answer until I understand why someone is asking it.
The only time I discuss religion outside of this forum is with my kids or when someone brings it up with me and ignores my requests to drop it (or when JWs knock on my door).
I politely explain why I find none of their reasons compelling, explain that it's not JUST Islam, but all religion and belief in the spiritual. The topics are usually up to the theists.
