In For Space (the book you dismissed as off topic) the author argues for spiritedness (she calls it livliness) in human geography and this agrees with posters here who speak of spirit as animation, power, force etc to talk about what they experience in their lives.

At best, then, it's a metaphor. One that makes no sense, albeit, but a metaphor.

Still no closer to an answer. Does anyone know what spirit is comprised of? Angels, demons, the holy ghost?

I notice that you are often dismissive when you seem to want to stifle a new direction (a new direction which is still on topic btw) that posters like me and others want to take with your topic.

You are correct. I would like the original question answered. If you want to go in another direction, please feel free to start your own thread.

i think she is a hypocrite and i bet she sells her invites to fornicators, or does she ask them if they are having sex before marrige, before she takes their money?.

i was never like this when i was a jw, it's even more disturbing that she is going to ask her elders what to do.

Because being born gay is not a choice. Being a porn star is.

I am all for majority rule, but the Surpreme Court overruled state laws established by a majority vote. In some cases, a direct majority vote by the general population.

So?

Sorry folks. The majority may be swinging to your side (just barely and only in the last year) on this issue, but the logic fails.

Actually, you didn't make any points, you just strung together a bunch of things. Why do you think the 14th shouldn't apply to gay people?

This says that quantum systems before the measurement and observation do not have fixed properties, and that reality only by its appearance that it is perceived by a consciousness. Before she is as it were in a latent state, so to speak, in a "sea of all possibilities,” It follows that space and time are created by consciousness phenomena.

That is not at all what the Cophenagen interpretation says nor has it been proven true. I have a hypothesis that as soon as someone starts to use quantum physics to discussion spirituality or god, I can safely assume they don't understand quantum physics. So far that is holding true.

For all that you wrote, the Deepak Chopra woo, it still failed to even come close to an answer to the question, what is spirit made of? What are angels, demons, the holy ghost, made of?

the unknown writer of the gospel of john put the following words in jesus' mouth, "blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.".

persuading countless generations that it is a virtue to believe incredible things on insufficient evidence, is one of religion's cleverest tricks.. the more incredible the claim; the more flimsy the evidence; the stronger the belief; the greater the virtue.. this is the exact opposite of how we operate in every other aspect of our lives.. rational people must demand objective evidence for everything they are asked to believe.

"extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence".. leaving the dogmatic claims of the watchtower is only a first step.

Ironically, everybody seems to be concerned about bias in privately funded research. What about publically funded research?

You asserted it, the onus is on you. If you really are a scientist, you would understand this. So, do you have an example?

Actually, the evidence is pointing in the other direction. If you look at the businesses which have defied the government (either birth control issue or LGBT), their business has boomed. The baker in CO, Hobby Lobby, Chick-fil-a, etc.

That's not evidence, you know. That's more "homophobes banding together" than it is a good business practice.

Plus there is a lot more at stake here because - more than acceding that it is someone's opinion that spirit is just a metaphor and therefore we ought to let it go

Odd that you see this thread as more that just asking a question. Where was anyone asked to cede their opinion? Also, you don't seem to understand how metaphors work.
