  'Clergy' and 'Ordained Ministers'

  what i can't seem reconcile are the concepts of 'clergy' and 'ordained minister'.. the wts has consistently won legal battles, specifically in cases involving military exemption, by making the claim that each and every baptized jw is an 'ordained minister'.

  and, they bolstered this label with the assertion that 'we do not have a clergy class'.

  so, why is that different now in the sex abuse trials that happening right now?

  the catholic church skews there numbers by counting as catholics even those who no longer attend and may not even profess to be catholic.

  do jehovah's witness do something similar or even the same thing?

  they seem to be very much in favor of going inactive imo.

  Question for people who believe in Evolution

  though school i did religious education and my teacher who was religious ruled out evolution because humans are the only creatures who do not want to die, can anyone who understands evolution explain this?.

  im 99% on to the theory of evolution, this is just the last stumbling block..

  though school i did religious education and my teacher who was religious ruled out evolution because humans are the only creatures who do not want to die, can anyone who understands evolution explain this?.

  im 99% on to the theory of evolution, this is just the last stumbling block..

  someone can explain to me why there is matter floating around in space to be a big bang to begin with, where did it come from? lol,

  But why would evolution cause us to want to die?

  Golden Rule: Pure Garbage?

  on another thread a poster made the comment that the golden rule was garbage.

  she said it was arrogant and made assumptions.. i didn't want to derail that thread so i started another wondering if this is a common thought about this belief on this forum.

  i guess i naively thought the value of doing to others as you want them to do to you was generally accepted as positive.. i understand people have different opinions of jesus as a person but i don't want to get into that here.

  If you got something better than the Golden Rule that can also be stated in few words I want to hear it.

  Already did. Read this direction ^^^^^

  I am sure I can work out unforeseen circumstances and exceptions to the rule without the extra rules that you suggest.

  I didn't suggest them, I was commenting on someone else saying it was required for the golden rule to work.

  Some people just have a chip on their shoulder and will jump on anything the Bible says as an opportunity to show how much smarter people are now. Probably has something to do with waking up from being a victim of cult thinking...

  Who do you imagine was trying to show how people are smarter now and who do you think is acting victimized?

  Plus, the 'gyno' thing sounds like the kind of joke a male would think of. Instead of patting yourselves on the back for taking down an 'ignorant theist', better consider the likely possibility that we all been taken for a ride at the expense of Vivian.

  She/he/it didn't bother me in the least. No matter what, I got to post some awesome videos.

  I want to ask why but I'm afraid you are going to confess to being a former fundie.

  Born in JW, was an atheist before I couldn't keep up the charade anymore (for family, of course) and was DFed.

  I bought my mother a Kindle several years ago and tied it to my Amazon account, she bought them, one day I decided to see how bad they were. It was like a train wreck, I just couldn't turn away, they were so bad they were funny.

  At the movie I was not popular with the laughing out loud as what was supposed to be serious scenes. Alcohol may have been snuck into the theater.
