Where do we go when we die?

my best friend of 14 years and maid of honor passed away 2 months ago at age 32 after battling breast cancer for 6 years.

i haven't been the same since for many reasons.. as a jw kid i believed 144,000 chosen went to heaven, the good people would be resurrected including those who didn't have a chance to hear about jehovah, and the rest, which were of other religions and bad people, died and would cease to exist.

again, because i was a kid when i left, i never really understood the jw position on death and why they came to their conclusion.

This is a question no one can answer.

Any answers will be guess work, supposition depending on your own personal reason for requiring to believe that there is an afterlife.

Some peole are inculcated from childhood and just continue with that belief unquestionably.

Some lose loved ones and are directed by charlatans to believe they will be reunited with them, quoting religious man made texts based on stories and myth ie zero proof.

The ONLY certainty is that we will all cease to exist.

If you have blood family who survive you (children, grandchildren )some of your dna will carry on and hopefully have a positive bearing on your future generations.

So a little part of you in theory will go on in our natural physical world.

New "theocratic history" book for witnesses?

is that correct?.

if so, i wonder how much they have re-written history to cover the real truths?.

i am preparing for my meeting this friday with miss k. we are reviewing the bible teach book, and she is looking forward to "showing me some things about the divine name.

" i don't know what she might pull out of her hat this time... but that section of the teach book is so completely assanine, i don't even know what to say.

F.W. ...You could start from the fundemental question;..How can we be certain jesus said anything which is attributed to him by people which we know almost zero about.

Jesus did not write or record anything of his own volition, the circumstances of his given ( biblical) existance is dubious at best.

You are dealing with people of faith who will use it to justify doctrine which satisfies their own inability to question belief which flies in the face of reason and evidence.

My advice is to say no thankyou I'll work things out using my own reasoning, not what your publications tell me.

i think she is a hypocrite and i bet she sells her invites to fornicators, or does she ask them if they are having sex before marrige, before she takes their money?.

i was never like this when i was a jw, it's even more disturbing that she is going to ask her elders what to do.

How to find joy in the ministry, according to one elder

he said that having a goal is the most important, since we do not want to waste our time and become depressed when going out in the ministry.. and what else could be better than setting a goal to, say, distribute xx number of magazines during that day?!.

in this way we could feel contented and joyful in service.. .

Yes ...n.h a h..leaving the JWs after a bit of emotional brain trauma , I felt a sense of ME.

I continue to have zero regrets and KNOW by contrast with my family kids and grankids as opposed to my jw family members the love and happiness we have surpasses anything they have.

My kids often comment how glad they are not to ever have been brought up JWs, when they are subject to jw discrimination and judgement .

What is spirit, exactly?

recently i asked that question on another thread and didn't really get ananswer.

cofty made an excellent point that we often hear what it isn't, but that really isn't useful.. so, what is it?

Hi ViV the complications of the root meanings which lead us to spirit are the hijacking of the literal meaning.

The words were in use before the woo woo brigade decided to supernatural it. Hence the very reason we discuss it on this forum.

That said I agree the supernatural composition of spirit. Is as a dog chasing its tail.

Where does the Governing Body say "old light" comes from?

the governing body claims they've received "new light" from jehovah every time they change their doctrine.

so where did the "old light" come from that's being replaced?

if the old light is incorrect, could it have come from god?

Hi matt;...unfortunately , as my brother the elder says,..the JWs are not a perfect organisation, in other words, so what if we got it wrong.

There is no getting through to that kind of mentality. I hope for his sake and most of my family time will tell but until then we endure the hurtful and totally unnecessary consequences.
