Space m ..you are of course entitled to choose your ' option ', but most in the theistic camp don't see it as an option, to them it's an absolute.
Therein lies the rub, if you know the teachings are false in what way would you have the best way of life based on a known falsehood.
Is it not better to pursue a lifestyle based on being true to yourself.
This course is surely imo better for those to whom you are close to and may look to you for guidance and example.

The gb reasoning is designed to manipulate in their favor. It has to, they have to keep the $$$ machine rolling.
I do have sympathy for those who allow themselves to be cajoled in this way.
Sites like this are absolutely necessary( thanks Simon )to hopefully allow them to see ttatt.

144,000 New Light update
by goingthruthemotions ini updated the list of partakers to 2013 (see below)...if i was to predict as to what new light might be coming down the borg poop shoot may be.
i would predict that they need to do something about the 144,000 being a literal number.. for two reasons:.
1. the number of partakers is increasing every year.

The typical jw mind set will accept ANY noooo light crap thrown at them.
To doubt or reject it means critical thinking which will lead to traumatic changes in their lives they know this because as soon as they begin to doubt the gb ( fds parable distorters ) they can feel it, so just as the addict will keep using the JWs keep drinking the koolaid.

Is there a list of JW contradictions / double standards anywhere?

have been lurking for a few weeks and just started posting.. one of the things i'm finding interesting about this site is how often someone posts a set of jw published material that contradicts each other.
for example the other day someone posted about lecithin.

Are we imperfect from birth?

there may be some scriptures that say we are imperfect from birth because of (fictitious) adams sin.
such verses make no sense like many other prima-facie meaningless verses such as joshua 10:13; isaiah 40:26; john 3:13;11:26 ........ however, there are scriptures that say we are capable of displaying perfection which is already within us.

Imperfection can only be measured against a standard of perfection.
Which yardstick you use to gauge this standard must come under scrutiny.
In the case of a human birth, what would the perfect standard be ? Have there been any ' perfect ' humans born ?
Imo the terms perfect or imperfect do not apply.
Every new born baby must be given the nurturing and opportunity to develop into a healthy free thinking adult to make the best of their life without having to question if they were borm imperfect.

My Story: from JW Elder to Born Again Christian to Agnostic

at the time i'd become disillusioned with the society due to the governing body's letter explaining why the book study in private homes was being abolished.
april 2008 saw me start questioning this decision, privately of course, and this eventually led me to this site, to jwfacts and to many youtube videos, all of which began to errode my faith in the leaders of the organisation.. in july 2008, having discussed my doubts with my wife, i attended the district convention, deciding to give the society one last chance to convince me it was the truth.
