@cofty... Re..George and Georgie Russel Georgie is in Ireland answering the call for pioneers to serve where the need is great, interestingly whilst telling me this she mentioned that the last time she was there she went with the orange order but is now glad she is now going as ' normal ' I had to laugh. She was also surprised to learn that jesus was not her mediator but thanked me for clarifying the matter for her( who needs the 'slave' when an apostate can provide due meat eh!) anyway she's a lovely wee person and knows my family.

Active witnesses? Please help?
by Ahava inhi,i'm lost and a little sad.
i actually like the jw faith.
some might call this faith cold, strict, dogmatic but they're just trying to follow rules and give back to god.

Proving that the gb is led by god is i think the deciding factor for you. Firstly the gb do not want you to prove it ( that takes personal study / investigation ) the gb want you to accept it unconditionally or your rejected. As for following rules..who's rules ? Its the rules as laid down by the interpretation of the so called spirit led.,but not inspired gb?...once again think anything to the contrary and you will be rejected even although they can alter or completely change doctrine to suit themselves ( eg..generation teaching, faithfull slave etc)
Science does not 'gloss over' consciousness or how life came about but endeavours to find answers without the fall back religious version of god done it after all if you accept that answer you're left with the problem of gods existence with no fall back position of god done it (unless you think there were other gods who brought the current god into existence and that's a never ending circle).

My impressions of the cart witnessing
by Sour Grapes ini have watched tons of youtube videos of our exjdub friends approaching and talking to the jdub manikins at their carts as they give a great witness to the world by sipping their hot lattes, updating their social media, chit chatting to each other, and the most important thing of getting their time in, counting their hours.. when the jw's see someone approach with a camera they do several things, they will turn their backs on the person, or look at the person with a frown and act like the person isn't even there.
the witlesses refuse to answer simple, clear, and precise questions.
when i was an elder i loved to get into discussions and debates with trinitarians, priest, clergymen and those who were born again.

While at the carts are they actually engaged in the preaching work ? This passive stand offish behaviour which i have seen countless times, seems to contradict the advice given in the study wt 16 may page 9 par'3 which highlights matt 28: 19-20 and asks the question ' were jesus'disciplines to be passive waiting for people to come to them ? ..definitely not! The jws at the carts are even going against their own directive !

Diane Abbott XD
by LoveUniHateExams indiane abbott has often given me moments of amusement throughout the years.. whenever i'm feeling depressed, 30 mins of watching her varied gaffes on youtube usually cheers me up.. the following is a clip from this week (feb 2008) in which she seems to wonder out loud whether mao did more good than harm.
it's great to hear michael portillo's initial reaction ("whaaat!
") and then watch him and andrew neil belly-laugh at diane abbott's comments at the end of the clip.. perhaps she'd been at the blue nun xd.

JW Decline: additional data from Aust 2016 census
by shepherdless inabout 9 months ago, i started this thread:.
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/6298997348106240/aust-2016-census-observations-jws-getting-older-more-kids-leaving-30-group-arent-returning.
i have had a little spare time, so i thought i would present some of the data in a more user friendly manner, with some additional detail.. 1. median age.

Younger Witnesses less fanatical or fundamental
by optimisticskeptic ini am a born in jw for over 30 years now and have been in various positions in the organization.
now i'm guessing most of us recognize that older generations tend to be more fundamental and less reasonable when it comes to their outlook and beliefs.
i find this to mirror the differences you see outside of the organization as well (older people less tolerant of other religions, newer technology, lgbt, etc.).

Hi optimis....would you be prepared to present the text of your post to the elders ? Mmmmm

Sister may have had a slight heart attack, do I text her?
by Xanthippe inso my cousin phoned and told me my jw sister was taken to hospital with chest pains and it may have been a slight heart attack or possibly she's starting with angina.
now as some of you know my sisters and brother have had little to do with me for 29 years.
we've met at funerals, or arranged them, but i just thought today what if she did die?

@ sbf... absolutely true in my case family members blowing hot and cold when it suits ie the guilt complex which is activated by the latest attack on non believers dissenters and their warped definition of apostasy. At the moment i am in the cold phase, but hey its water of a ducks back, ultimately it's their loss to reject normal loving family relations.

Sign of apostasy
by Ireneus inelders arranged a sort of informal visit by a more capable elder accompanied by another brother who is more qualified than me from academic background.
their purpose was to reason with me as a last resort to avoid a jc.. during the two-hour discussion, i could make my point clear to them: “i don’t think any one particular religion has the whole truth.
it may be existing as bits and piece in all religions and schools of thought.

The jw hierarchy need apostates ( as they define ) it feeds their superiority and haughty attitude which they use to justify being ' no part of satans world '. Anyone who cares to investigate will soon discover that not only are they a part of this worlds systems ie a religious organization , registered corporation ,registered as charities and willing to align themselves with the United Nations until they were rumbled and willing to benefit financially from stocks and shares in ' worldly ' companies who deal in activities contrary to their stated and enforced standards which for the rank and file jws would be a disfellowshiping matter if they were discovered to be doing the same. These people ( the watchtower hierarchy ) are hypocritical charlatans of the highest order... my advice get out and stay away from them as fast as you comfortably can.

Calling Cofty and others regarding evolution
by dubstepped inso i have started down the path of trying to understand evolution, and to get the linear lies that the jws planted in my head out of it.
i bought an audiobook called "evolution: what the fossils say and why it matters" by donald prothero.
i heard it recommended on an atheist podcast that i listened to.
