Anyone interested in situations where people or families who have been negatively affected by the influence of watchtower ie jws (to whatever degree ) would surely be willing to hear what they have to say...,i know i would talk to such a person if the situation arose. I would hope to offer some help and comfort.

The Reasons for Cart Witnessing
by Simon inwhatever we think of it, you have to admit that it's quite "genius".. the door to door ministry as done in western developed countries where the jw quirky religion has probably reached their saturation level was a complete and utter waste of time in terms of the effort expended to recruit people.. at the same time, it was rarely something that anyone enjoyed which led to people being labelled as inactive, being pressured to doing more and maybe ultimately deciding jwism wasn't for them and leaving.. there was also the issue that many jws are actually pretty bad at knowing and articulating their beliefs so were pretty incapable of getting any meaningful message across.. they solved all this with the cart witnessing.
the real point isn't to recruit, it's to make life easier for jws.
now they can stand and chat with their friend, have a coffee, not talk to anyone or make eye contact and still act as a walking billboard for jw.org.

Hello Everyone, Another JW Has Left!

i've been lurking for about a year, the first couple of times i was frightened and literally shaking visiting an apostate site but it's the only place i can come to for sanity.
the religion has become a nut house.

My story
by Leeny ini came across this website when i was looking for some emotional/mental support lately as i was summoned by elders to explain someone’s report on me saying “i’m promoting homosexuality”.
i’m inactive, not attending meetings or associating with jw outside of my biological family for almost 2 years now.. yes i am gay (you can judge away) and yes it is in a direct contrast to the scriptures, no arguement about it.. i was brought up in a jw family.
my dad is a typical zealot, he literally talks or thinks about the bible 24/7.

Welcome leeny thank you for sharing your story. First of all know that you will be supported by the vast majority in this forum. I can relate to issues with jws and their unyielding stance on being gay. My daughter is gay and although she was never a jw she was subject to being cut off from her jw relatives to the point of one of my siblings exclaiming ..She is dead to us now...going so far as trying to persuade others of the family to take the same opinion..how cruel to a beautiful and loving person as my daughter who until she came out as gay had a close relationship with them and endured holding back her true nature knowing what reception she would face...how cruel and unloving these jws are. How you handle your situation is of course your decision , I would just say run towards the love and kick up the dust to those who hate. Best wishes on your journey.

Oh the irony!!!
by stuckinarut2 injust wanted to share this funny thing.. so we have just been invited to a neighborhood xmas party to be held in the house of a lovely couple around the corner from us.. they bought the house a short time back from a jw who built it and lived there!.
so, we get to enjoy one of our first xmas parties as a couple, in the former house of a jw!.
now, that made me giggle.....

On a similar vein,my wife and I bought a house which was owned by an elder in which was held the Tuesday book study as well as a meeting place for field service. There was a gap of about 25 yrs between these events, i was well out of any association with the jws. When i eventually sold it ,strangely a lot of my neighbours came to view ,i found this rather strange as i did not think they were genuine prospective purchasers all was revealed when they said,oh we just wanted to see what it was like inside as we all knew this as the kingdom house ! I wonder what they thought the interior was like .probably the flow of lots of religious people coming and going was intriguing.

I walked out of the k'hall in the spring of 75 with my new wife after our marriage ceremony never to return. In those days my wife was not a baptised witness but she was having a bible study with an elder. We began to not answer the door when he called and never returned to the hall. Now by this time I had (I thought) cleansed my mind of watchtower, but began to have a form of mental breakdown not quite understanding why, it did not affect my day to day living but something was not quite right with me. I remember at this time a jw friend of mine (after a few beers) standing in the middle of the city street shouting "I can't believe this (the city buildings etc'),is all going to come crashing down soon! Yes I got over my 75 mental torment despite not believing anything would happen and went on to a better life,but let no one be,under any illusion the 75 time had profound effects thanks to,the idiocy of the hierarchy of the jw organisation.
