witness should rename their work because they're not really preaching the way Jesus did, they are distributing printed literature. With all the junk mail we recieve each day and the info overload from other sources it's no wonder witnesses are getting less and less results for each hour spent in service. Plus I think the majority of JW's don't like going from door to door and if they had freedom of choice they would quit right now.

130 years of preaching has failed.
by joelbear ineven in the us where the preaching work has been going on longest and most widespread, very few people have any idea what the message of the watchtower society or jehovah's witnesses is.
their methodology is flawed.
selling books and magazines that are rarely read sporadically to people doesn't deliver this message.

Is College now wrong for Jehovah's Witnesses again?
by booker-t ini have been out of the jw's for many years now but i still have devout jw's family members.
and i am attending college now at 40 yrs old working on my ba degree.
i was so happy a few years ago when my jw mom told me that the wt is slacking off on telling jw's teenagers that college is bad and it is ok to attend college and universities.

It's all a control issue. The borg doesn't want anyone to question or think for themselves. Questioners and thinkers are troublemakers in their eyes. They need to isolate people to keep their grip tight and that means cutting them off from others who may have ideas that they can't refute.

How Does the Governing Body Extend its Control Over the Many Organizations?
by frankiespeakin inhow does the governing body extend its control over the many organizations that they made back in the year 2000 ?.
i think they have some type of by-laws in these corparations where they are to be in subjection to the wishes of the gb.. also thier may be some stipulations that the controlling members of each seperate corperation must be in good standing and can not function in any capacity if they are disfellowshipped.
thus the gb can alway use thier unlimited power to df to bring members in line or remove them if the gb feel threated.. i would think that the by-laws of these seperate entities are somewhat similar to the by-laws that form the congregation corperations in order for the congregation to be a legal corperation that can own property, where the by-laws state that they must remain in subjection to the gb.

I think JT's assesment is spot on. I was at the London Bethel for a few years and it was no spiritual haven. I had some good times but there was always the fear and absolute disgrace that came with being kicked out for breaking the rules. I did not find the "family" in the "Bethel Family". I think the internet is weakening the next generation of dubs rather han causing a mass exodus and since the WT is all about mass control, in the future I think their message and methods will become less appealing and more irrelevent.

WTS and the mass media
by greendawn ingiven the extend of the abuse that the wts perpetrates on its members isn't it surprising that they don't get a lot more negative mass media coverage?
i wonder why that is, is it because they have helpful, powerful connections or because being so rich they can buy them off?
some extensive publicity in the mass media would cause them serious harm.

Most people are indifferent to the witnesses and their message. Let's face it all that preaching hasn't moved mountains so unless there is something really big that the general public is really interested in I don't think there will be much air time. For example the UN scandal is big news to us, but who outside witnesses and ex-witneses cares?

Local Needs - Apostate Warning!!
by hopetofade inhad a very interesting local needs part last nite - warning against apostate activity in our area, as well as the dangers of the internet.
the elder giving the talk discussed how he googled "watchtower" and a whole boatload of sites came up, such as silent lambs, etc.
"we need to stay away from these.

Curiosity will kill or at least cripple the Org. As the "problem" of the internet grows watch the Org try to get more controling, which will turn more people away. Talks will sound more extreme and people WILL check them out on line as it becomes even more mainstream around the world. These are exciting times aren't they...The Wall is crumbling .

The New and Hidden Class Consciousness of Jehovah's Witnesses
by truthseeker inclass consciousness is defined as identification with other members of ones own class and awareness of its relationship with other classes.
a remarkable change has happened in the last ten years among jehovah's witnesses, and this is largely due to the way we communicate.. .
the internet has brought about huge social changes in the way we think, do business and research, and how we spend our free time.. .

I think this is the biggest single threat to the society...who can they trust? Anyone and everyone could be a suspect in undermining the credability of the Borg and it's taechings. As they grow more paranoid watch for them to tighten their grip and try to be even more controling. This won't sit well, especially with younger ones. Everyday the organization is slowly being eaten away from the inside out. I don't think they will ever disappear but they will become a shaddow of their once mighty, self -righteous,always right, you will obay us or else self.

Any "Miraculous" experience happen to you like the ones said at Conventions
by soundbox_guy ini had to sit through those experiences at the convention, i was wondering, did any of you used to be one of those people on stage giving an experience about how something miraculously happened like getting the exact amount of money you needed to pay your rent on the day it was due?
i always hear the stories, but can anybody actually tell me something like this has happened to them when they were a good little witness?
and if it has, did these sort of "events" stop taking place after you left?

Here's a couple of experiences that are absolutely true but never made it to the platform or WT magazine...A car load of witnesses were on their way to an assembly when they were involved in a crash with another vehicle...people in both cars died...both cars were full of witnesses.
A new mother with an infant only a few days old insisted on taking it to an outdoor assembly even though the weather was cold and the stadium draughty. Her unbelieving husband didn't want her to go but she went anyway, She sat for hours, maybe days outside...the newborn child got sick and died.
These experiences were told to me by brother Jack (John) Barr and his wife Mildred while he was serving as Job Press overseer, London Bethel circa 1976...Now He's a member of the GB
Good things happen and so do bad things. By our choices we have more control over the outcome than say, god or the devil

What used to get me was a witness "blessing" was from God but a similar event happening to a person of another faith was from the devil. He's so sly.

Years ago the cong. I was in had about 90 publishers and a new KH was neded...The C.O., George Cook insisted that if we built a much larger hall it would be filled. A new 150 seater was built, what a joke, It's never been filled except for weddings and funerals. recently they remodeled it, put in some walls, took OUT some seats...now it's down to 120...meetings usually run to about 60-70

Yes the dor to door work has been a great waste of time and energy, and it always will be. It will never be completed, the population is always in flux..people are born, people die and the growth of the witnesses is not keeping pace with the birth rate. and why would god be so selective , I mean some areas have a much higher publisher/population ratio than others, If God really were behind the JWs I'm sure things would be different. Can you imagine Jesus going to Brooklin etc..."You have turned my fathers house into a publishing empire"
