If anything, the persecution complex would not come from the R&F seeing it, it will come from the assembly talk remarks. If this billboard is noticeable enough, every assembly in nearby towns will include a piece where it points out the apostate messages being used to bad mouth Jehovah's people -

Curious JW Insurance salesman...
by cognitivedizzy infound this interestinga week ago...recently i had a brother who does life insurance for a living call me to see if i was interested in a offering, since i was keen on taking up a insurance policy for my 1 year old daughter for her education purpose 20 years down the line i told him that he can come over, fast forward todayhe comes over with his manager (not a jdub) and we have a long chat about the various long term insurance plans... i found it very strange that a guy who believes that the world end is imminent would be so keen on selling me a policy with a tenure of 20 to 25 years .. in my mind , i'm thinking " is he serious ??
"well after i agree to buy a policy for my child and specifically stating that its for her future education to pursue whatever higher education she likes, the manager encourages me saying " that's amazing , cos of education will increase in the future so on etc "... btw i live in a developing country when education is not free...so i'm done with all the paper works and the manager leaves, so its just me and the brother ( who is a ms by the way )i asked him, doe she really think i made a good choice paying for a expensive insurance plan for 20 years with good returns considering the end was so near..he was dumbstruck i aksed the question, he took a moment and hesitated and said this !!!
!he was like "i don't ever think the world will end anytime soon "do i sense another dissenter .... perhaps a fellow man.... i'm excited :)

There is a double standard when it comes to that. Most could trace it back to 1975. We are to preach the end is imminent, but we can not live our lives as if the end was coming tomorrow. You have to buy life insurance and if you don't, don't ever say it is because the org says the end is coming. You would not want the org to be blamed for that like it happened back in 75.
If you cling to your materials things (instead of giving them to the org) then you are not being alert of the impending end but if you do not provide and prepare for the future of your family, then you are worst than those without faith.

JWs With A Financial Interest In The Org
by JW_Rogue inthrough personal experiences which i'd rather not relate because it would give away my identity i have come to a realization.
many brothers own businesses that a greatly supported by witness activities.
when local congregations need some service they will prefer to do business with a jw.

It would not surprise me at all. Just check the case of QSC Telecom and you would see a definite arrangement where an individual could benefit from doing big business with the org.
In my personal experience, there is this one elder, the one that gave me my study, who I accidentally caught at least twice. I would see him at assemblies from far and recognize him. Coincidentally, foot traffic and the shape of the place itself, would lead me to have to approach him from behind to say hi. In at least two of these cases, he was talking to someone, near a corner. When I got closer, he was handing the other guy a check. He would look noticeable distressed upon realizing that I came close and probably saw that. He will still greet me and pretend nothing happened. The funny part is that he was always paying the same guy. Don't know the other guy name but he was always in charge of fixing the mic at assemblies.

Glad to hear thing are going better for you. Give her some space. You are going to have to re-build trust before you can even consider discussing religion again. Best wishes for you! -

History of the JW movement in Mexico
by StarTrekAngel inhere is a fairly detailed article on the history of the movement in mexico.
it's in spanish, but i passed it thru google translate and it does a pretty good job at translating the document.
it's an article from one of the most prestigious universities in mexico.. being in a predominantly hispanic circuit, we have several brother and sisters from mexico who were witnesses under the conditions that existed back then.

search "google translate" and then paste the link into the page. It will give you a new link but this time the words will be translated. The translation isn't perfect but you can make out the proper grammar. -

1993 AWAKE on Child Abuse
by The_Doctor10 in10/8/93 awake article about child abuse misconceptions, checkout the second misconception: children fantasize or lie about abuse.. this article notes how it's extremely unlikely that children lie in cases of abuse (95% in some estimates are truthful) and how even among the ones who lie it's usually when they make a claim (in truth) but then subsequently lie and say it didn't happen, when in actuality, it did.. given this knowledge, why the two witness rule?
95% odds that the child who claims abuse is telling the truth by the awakes own admission, that should be more than enough to change policies of the wts.. http://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/g19931008/about-child-abuse/#?insight%5bsearch_id%5d=8d161c40-c4d0-4ddb-aadf-bcf2b480d55b&insight%5bsearch_result_index%5d=0.

Here is a fairly detailed article on the history of the movement in Mexico. It's in Spanish, but I passed it thru google translate and it does a pretty good job at translating the document. It's an article from one of the most prestigious universities in Mexico.
Being in a predominantly hispanic circuit, we have several brother and sisters from Mexico who were witnesses under the conditions that existed back then. They have been interviewed during meetings and they continue to relate how they were not able to pray in meetings or sing because they were under "ban". This article shows that there was not such a thing as a "ban". In comparison, you can see that the restrictions they had were nothing compared to what was going on in other countries. Countries in which witnesses were told they'd better die than giving up their rights to worship God as they understood was required. (Malawi?)
It will also show that the aim of the Mexican government at the time was not to crush religion overall but to fight the political influence of the catholic church. It shows the government was willing to turn a blind eye or bend the rules when it came to minority groups. Yet, if the WTBTS would have admitted to their true purpose, they would have lost all of their real state to the government. The way the WTBTS managed to maintain a peaceful relationship with the authorities, and therefore keep their precious properties, was by presenting itself as aligned with some of the government branches (which included the military) and institutions that were looking at de-fanaticizing people. Asking its followers to not "participate in compulsory military service" would have meant departing from the above. The article never talks about the military service issue that we all know about but it gives the political background for the environment that may have lead to the WTBTS decision to dismiss it as a violation of political neutrality.

Ghana jw.org call for retraction
by mana11 inwe have read with interest the above front-page headline and its articlewhich was published on page 3 of your newspaper the chronicle of june 22, 2015. in the article, the writer, alfred adams of takoradi, reported that rebecca dankwa and her mother, believed to be worshipping at the jehovahs witnesses church, refused to accept blood transfusion on the grounds that their religion forbids blood transfusions, and she died as a result.. as representatives of jehovahs witnesses in ghana, we write to point out the misinformation contained in that report.
our investigation into the matter has clearly established that the said rebecca dankwa was not one of jehovahs witnesses.
since this person mentioned in the report was not one of jehovahs witnesses, we are at a loss as to why the name of jehovahs witnesses should be linked to the story.

I think the stand from the JWs here is that she "was not one of the JWs" means she was not baptized. They are trying to make it seem that they are not to blame because she had not signed the contract yet. Definitely double speak but one double speak no one outside our circle would understand. -

Anthony Morris III: "...we cannot control everything that an individual might say..."
by cappytan ini noticed that anthony morris iii just said on the broadcast: "while we cannot control everything that an individual might say, it is clear that over the decades protecting children from abuse is a top priority for this organization.".
that, in my opinion, is a direct response to the richard ashe "spiritual protection not physical protection" deposition.. here's a video putting the two statements side by side.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgevpuyn7gy.
