  Assembly Hall selling HVAC machines

  someone very close to me, who is a non-baptized publisher (for almost 3 years now), went to work to the local assembly hall.

  recently, they removed the existing hvac machines and replaced them with new ones.

  This are the external units only. I would seriously doubt that such piece of engineering designed to last so many years can be crippled by mold (provided that they are maintained)

  Edit: did not mean to say the equipment itself would fail because of mold. Meant to say that it would be no longer viable for use.

  Not going to disclose a whole lot of details because it will implicate someone else without their consent. Someone very close to me, who is a non-baptized publisher (for almost 3 years now), went to work to the local assembly hall. Recently, they removed the existing HVAC machines and replaced them with new ones. These are four 80 ton units. We have seen them seating in the rear parking lot for several assemblies now but the units were no more than 3 years old when they were removed from service. They told this "brother" if he was interested in buying them (he usually likes to trade machinery, although I've never seen him take on something this big). He asked how much they were asking for the machines and they told him, in spanish "lo que nos quieras dar". While literally that translates into "make an offer", in the local slang that actually translates more like "you set the price". He was also reassured that he could sell them off later and keep whatever profit he made. They also offered to him a boom lift that has been seating there for a while too. While the lift is slightly aged, it is still in perfect working condition. They asked for $5,000, he offered 3,000 and they said ok without any further questions.

  Never the less, this "brother" is shocked. He never expected the WT to be this wasteful. I tried explaining to him that just like any other business, they tend to sale depreciated assets for pennies on the dollar. He still baffled by the idea that they are using our donations to replace equipment that is perfectly functional.

  So went to the meeting last night. I had not been to one since before the holiday break (3 weeks ago). Besides, it was our first meeting in the new format.

  So first there was a big lie. Not that is uncommon but it makes me curious if this lie was in the talk outline or the elder made this up. It was related to the spiritual cleansing carried out by Hezekiah and how he wanted to celebrate passover once he was done cleaning the kingdom of false worship but he was a month late. He proceeded to do it anyway, on the 14 of the next month instead of Nisan. However, the elder giving the talk said that there was a provision in the law that allowed him to do that. I don't know where he got that from.

  Anyway, the funny part was that the meeting was going to be close with a new song. 142. They told us that this new song had the new orchestra, so we would listen to the song first and sing along after. Funny thing is that as soon as the song started you could see the face everyone was making. My 12 year old leaned over to my ear and said "How tropical!", my wife looked at me in disbelieve and I said "What the hell?". A couple of sisters in front of us were rocking their hips at the beat of the song.

  When it was over and we got to the car, we were all laughing. Wife said she did not like that at all. Mother in law said that she felt like she was in one of those churches with the big chorus and the hand up in the air.

  IF they would just think a little harder...

  the elder that was the coordinator of the boe has just left town to attend one of those infamous schools with this wife.

  the view is that he will most likely return to be appointed co. not sure he is going to stick around here for a lot longer.. i am saying this because, despite them knowing he will return when the school is over, they removed him from the coordinator position and appointed someone else.

  it was announced last night that the biggest jerk of the group of elders is now the coordinator of the boe.

  Thanks all for your input. For those who suggest straight out DA, I do agree, but I have a wife and I need to thread carefully. She is fully aware of my position but I intend to try and have her open her eyes. I've been threading slow, very slow and I am sometimes surprised at some of the things that happen.

  while it was a small family thing, we actually celebrated my wife's birthday and we did the same for our youngest daughter last August. I know my wife does not think much of it but for her to admit in front of the children that we are going out to dinner because is A.... Birthday, is a step in the right direction that I did not expect. Jan 20 is the next B-day. I already bought gifts and my wife surprised me by asking me suggestions on what she could get for our oldest.

  Is the world binary? (binary answer is NO)

  If so then, are we discussing the truth of the world or the truth of the bible as put forth by the JW? (binary answer is "we are discussing the truth of the bible as put forth by the JW")

  Is the bible truth binary? Binary answer is YES

  Therefore, the truth as discussed in this case is binary and absolute. No prophet ever had more than two answers to a question.

  I am saying this because, despite them knowing he will return when the school is over, they removed him from the coordinator position and appointed someone else. It was announced last night that the biggest jerk of the group of elders is now the coordinator of the BOE. He is a misogynist, authority and power hungry man who has no problem bragging about his elevated position.

  in your experience, is it better to pull further away from the org in cases like this? or is it better to slow down?

  My concern is that it's been over a year since my last FS report and no one has come to visit. On itself is a good thing, but I am starting to think that the previous coordinator was a much nicer and understanding person. I am afraid this guy is going to be more aggressive.
