  during the talk today, the speaker said, in reference to apostates, "don't make mountains out of molehills" and "all those who are do good to look up isaiah 43:18.

  " to save you trouble, it says: "do not remember the former things, and do not dwell on the past.".

  i'd like to see him read that scripture to the victims of the hundreds and hundreds of abuse cases the arc has unveiled from over the past 50 years.

  Blood Transfusion and Eating

  i get highly irritated when this subject comes up.

  this idiot gave a talk in my hall recently and said that transfusion of blood and eating blood was the same thing.

  my wife accepts this reasoning.

  I remember talks in which we were told that, regarding blood, we needed to be careful when we were invited to eat, especially around other cultures, where we were not aware of food preparation. They exemplified some latin american cultures where certain whole birds are cooked with their blood still in them. We were also warned about cooking steak rare.

  My question now would be, if cooking stake rare means eating blood, how is it that we are willing to eat blood if it is fully cooked? ( I do understand the red in rare steak is not technically blood)

  Simply tell him that you wrote to offer your support. That you would explain why you are not going back but that given the way things played out (you were writing to offer your condolences) and how long it has been, you feel that is not sensible to change the subject so abruptly. That you know that Jehovah cares (even if you don't believe so) but you are shocked by the fact that it is obvious (by his wording) and by his response, that he doesn't care (he did not include himself or the other brothers in his statements, only God)

  Anyone who's ever confronted the HR department at your job, especially in professional/technical environments, or a counselor, or, to keep this on topic, your elders. knows that there is a number of well crafted quotes out there, that are good to make a point across. Quotes that are used to attempt to inspire you, challenge you or make you think out of the box. If there is one place where such quotes are constantly published out of any contexts, is social media. People tend to simply post pictures with quotes. They hardly ever bother to post them in the context of a story. They are simply regurgitated as the answer to life's problems but often times, I find myself questioning how the quote applies. Some are so open ended that, in my opinion, are prone to being, and firmly believe that in many cases, they are being used to abuse power or authority.

  For example, consider the following quote.

  First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
  

  The above, allegedly by Ghandi (but the true source is challenged as I read), can hardly be miss applied in my view. If I am arguing with you, especially if we have an ideological confrontation, I can not throw that quote at you pretending that it would be in your favor. In essence, I would be encouraging you to keep in your path and that you will eventually win over me. If instead, I am looking to make you accept the status quo and I want you to accept things the way they are, even when it is in a clear disadvantage to you, I could direct you to the typical... try to see the glass as half full rather than half empty. We've been there... don't look at the shortcomings of the brothers, look at their strengths. Don't look for blame or mistakes in the org, just think of the many people we are helping become better parents, leave drugs and vices, etc. In other words, to me, certain quotes and catchy phrases are abused and I have had my fair share of people trying to switch the blame to me by using quotes of that nature. So here I propose an end to this by quoting...

  Consider the glass always half full, not half empty..... so long that the person who passes the glass to you is not the one who drank the other half when you were not looking.

  Because they operate like a business. Like every business, when an asset begins to cost more to keep than to acquire a new one, the asset is decommissioned, regardless of its evident usefulness. We do this all the time at work. Millions of dollars worth of network equipment is forklifted out and replaced with new one. Sometimes this is done way before the end of its useful life. They still work and can be used but once you add depreciation cost and especially if the new gear will bring in greater revenues, then equipment is removed. Sometimes the cost of keeping up the old is higher than purchasing a new one.

  I listened to the report on BBC radio about the destruction of documents by the WT. They said they may be facing a potential for criminal charge, unless they can legally prove that there was a reason to destroy the documents, despite the data protection act not demanding so and despite the inquiry having notified before hand to keep all documents.

  The WT lawyers are not dumb. My feeling is that the legal implications of destroying the documents is much lesser than the legal implications of providing them. Sort of like when you are able to refuse a breathalyzer test because you know you are totally wasted and rather face a fine for refusal to comply.
