To address your question directly, since we seemed to have misunderstood, my understanding from reading the bible, believe on it or not, is that for sure they will be accountable. Starting with blasphemy against the holy spirit, all the way thru false prophecy and ultimately disrespecting the ransom paid by Jesus by putting burdens on people that they themselves are not willing to take.

Any Peugeot owners around here?
by Mandrake ini was wondering since there are a lot of uk users (at first i didn't notice that) if there is some peugeot owners here, clearly not from the us, the brand and also citroën has no presence in north america... in my city (santiago) you can see almost every car brand from chinese to european... in my apartment's parking lot there are toyotas, hondas, a porsche (that is abandoned, a carrera 911 turbo from 1989), even an old lancia, alfa romeo, nissan, renault, citroën, a camaro, suzuki, sköda, bmw, an old mecerdes, daewoos, kias, hyundais, an old vw beetle and a scirocco, few chinese, an audi, a dodge ram.
even a maserati in a house two blocks away etc etc.. and my 307 :)

We used to have a 404 that had some bad piston rings. It was diesel. To avoid wasting time, my dad used to jump a cable between the battery and the glow plugs. While the plugs heated up the combustion chambers, he would give the car a quick clean up. If the winter was specially cold, a shot of engine starter was required. We then moved a Renault 9, then a Peugeot 504. My mom eventually owned a 306 as well. My dad has a Jeep, which was then manufactured in the country by IKA. That thing has a 4 cylinder Mercedes Benz engine. Is a 60s model and still runs today.

Most professionals believe the contrary. Hassan's clearly expresses in his book that the cult indoctrinated individual has not changed. He continues to be a loving, concerned individual who wants to do the best for himself and his family. What has been changed is the framework under which the decisions are made. Therefore, most of the responsibility seats on those who purposely manipulated the enviromment. This is not a black and white thing. The more indoctrinated you are, the less empowered you are to make "rational", decisions (I use quotes because from the view of the cult personalities, their decisions are more than rational)
In my view, to say that the individual is always ultimately responsible, is like saying no one would ever be unfit to stand trial in a court of law. People should be tried regardless. Most individuals who are unfit to stand trial are ultimately held responsible and may go to jail anyway. The difference is that in most of this cases, the jail is a means to prevent another crime, not a punishment or a means to re adapt them.
Indoctrination is a very powerful force. Look at advertising for an example. I have a sister in law, who after 10 years of not setting a foot in a KH, went to read jwfacts and her hands began to sweat. A cousin of my wife, also inactive for a long time, is taking on an alternative diet in order to increase her red blood cell count in preparation for a surgery that would normally require blood. She assures the world in facebook she needs to accomplish this "because of her belief"

I believe they are to a degree. Some other people are as well but I believe the lower you go into the layers of authority, the least responsible. At least from an ethical perspective. It is obvious that they have legally covered their butts pretty well.
You can not put full blame on the parents or the deceased him or herself when you are under this kind of influence and in regards to the consequences of non compliance. When you are convinced you are in the truth and you've are given two choices...
1- Give your child a blood transfusions, which is not guaranteed to save his life (or so you believe) and with the chances of getting all this horrible deceases
2- Insist on an alternative that may technically have less chances of success (but you believe otherwise) + you get to keep the family + you get your ticket to paradise.
Provided the above was true, the choice is clear. I still have a friend who believes getting a blood transfusion may give him the chronic conditions the other person may have and don't know it yet (like diabetes)

I've been at this quest for a good part of two years. I've experienced every negative feeling a human body and mind can experience. I have, at times, become consumed. So much so that I have entire weeks where I have no work to show for. Fortunately those times are behind me. Yet, I press on because I am convinced I've seen the real personalities pop out every now and then and I can see they are genuinely the persons I felt in love with.
One of my kids is turning 13 soon and she is starting to show that teenager attitude, where we have less and less in common. One of the things we still do together is watch the X-files. She got hooked on it so I make it a point that no one can watch another episode unless we watch it all together.
Mulder and Scully are constantly fighting each other's assessments while Mulder continues to feed on this hope of ever uncovering the truth. While he is convinced that he knows what this truth kind of looks like, he can not get his partner to come close to his position. In some occasion, the question has been presented to him... what are you going to do once you find it?
That got me thinking... what would you do, if suddenly, in a short span of time, all the people you care about wake up from this cult. You may spend some time healing by sharing with each other what the journey felt like but eventually it will be over. Sure I agree that the best revenge is living a happy life but I am not talking about revenge. I am talking about coming to the sudden realization that you no longer have a fight. Something that you did for so long that it became a habit, a way of life. Where at times you have lost the real sense of purpose and you were just looking for the next WT fiasco to analyze with no real idea as to how that would help your goal.
Some have resorted to doing charity. That seems like an idea. I just wonder how you can take in anything that involves a "cause" without the fear that you are going into the next Watchtower.
Has anyone asked themselves the same question?

Watchtower and The X-Files
by StarTrekAngel ini've been watching the show all over again, with my kids.
we are in season 6 and there has been at least 3 mentions of jw in the show.. in one episode, mulder and scully get to a house and when they get there they realize the doorbell button has been ripped off.
they look at each other and mulder says "frustrated jehovah's witness?".

Today we watched one of the latest episodes in Season 6 and they are knocking on someones house. When they identify themselves as FBI agents, the homeowner asks "Jehovah's Witnesses?". Mulder says "No, but we do have a free copy of the Watchtower if you would like"
I also recall another mention by the Lone Gunmen.
Was Mark Snow a JW by any chance or anyone connected to the show?
