This thread is entitled: Spiritually strong people don't care what others think of them.
You wrote: "I completely disagree with your premise. I think mature people DO care what others think, especially people close to themselves, those that they love and care for, and they carefully take it into consideration....Not caring what others think is a hallmark trait of antisocial behavior, sociopaths and psychopaths."
I said that i disagree with your comment. It was very harsh in its context.
How can I be twisting your words when I am quoting them back to you as written?
Again, since this thread is: "Spiritually strong people don't care what others think of them" You said you 'completely disagree'.
I took exception to your 'hallmark' comment, that I QUOTED back to you. It gave the impression of being very judgmental.
Why can't you just let it alone that I disagree with you? Isn't this a free country? Well...WHATEVER.....I guess it just comes down to the fact that I don't care if you agree with me or not. And I do take exception to judgmental statements....after all, isn't that one of the reasons we left the JW's?

O- Your comment that "Not caring what others think is a hallmark trait of antisocial behavior, sociopaths and psychopaths" although it maybe true in the clinical sense; it puts down people that are so self assured and do not care what others think of them. It read like you a are lumping self assured pople into the category of being psychopaths. I mentioned Mother Teresa because I like her saying. I cannot vouch for her personally, becuase I did not know her. I am sure that others can find dirt on her. That is not my point. I agree totally what she wrote about 'doing it anyway'. Strong minded, self assured people are not interested in being popular. That does not make them sociopaths.

iOubliette - Thank you for your opinions. I agree with you on:
"...the outcome" of this contrived situation was deliberately designed by the writer of this article to lead you to the foregone conclusion which they have already drawn for you. The important thing for us to learn here, is that WT writings are carefully crafted propaganda designed to reinforce their selfish goals and manipulate you into believing and thereby acting as they wish. It is important to develop the cognitive skill to recognize when you're being had."
It is nice that things worked out of you with your mortgage. Others are not so lucky. In my opinion, you are taking a narrow view of the real estate market, considering only your local area.
Additionally, your comments of 'You should keep in mind'. etc. is very condesending.
Most likely, the illustration was fabricted by the Watchtower.
I do not want to debate words here....I only want to help and I still believe that it's best to get educated. Being lucky in the market doesn't aways happen.

New Awake! Dealing With Mental Illness

More changes to become to become a more mainstream religion! What about those who were counseled that the mental health professionals were evil and should be avoided? Conflicted89 is not alone! I know many, many JW's who were told the same thing. 'Pray more. More service. you are unspiritual because you are depressed.' What about those poor souls who killed themselves, because of the 'old light' thinking they were forgotten by God because they were depressed and needed medication? Yep, the old bait and switch.

Mother Teresa didn't care what others thought.....and I don't belive she had ' antisocial behavior' or was a 'sociopath and psychopath'. She makes a lot of sense, in my book...
Do it Anyway
"People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.
Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.
Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.
-this version is credited to Mother Teresa"

The Asia real estate market is in the crapper. What happened to those poor people in the article was what happened to so many people worldwide.....They timed the real estate market wrong....they had poor financial planning and they chose buy a house they couldn't afford and borrowed the downpayment. This does not equate to lack of spirituality, it is the result of the economy and a lack of FINANCIAL EDUCATION. They needed more education to make real estate work for them...
Maybe if they took a class or two at the local college (heavens no!) instead of knocking on doors, they would be alright today! Or, if they had the genious real estate/financial planners of the WT, they would do better. But of coure the WT has to spin it all and make it look like they are unspiritual. What a bunch of crap.
They teach: "Preach....don't get an education". So, JW's make poor decisions because of the lack of education...then when things go wrong, instead of blaming the lack of knowledge, they say that it was because they are bad unspiritual people....so stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrr
