some facts that make the difference between you and me:.

1 - as a person raised by non jw family, my parents have never loved me based on conditions set out by a group of old men who they don't even know.

how does it feel to know that you are in the unique situation where your parents brought you into the world and said 'i'll show love to you.

My parents were duped into believing that the end of the world was near. They believed that the religion they chose would save my life and the lives of those who would listen. In the context of saving a life, what is a missed birthday party or a Christmas gift?

Yes, to be raised as a JW is restrictive and abusive. I am not raising my child as I was….but then again I know better.

I’ve forgiven my parents and although I missed out on things, I understand their reasoning. I don't hold my parents or those that were tricked to the same standard as those who knowingly promoted a falsehood. As Jehovah's Witnesses we stood for what we believed and were valiant (and ignorant) in that regard.

The people who should beheld accountable are those in power in the organization (past and present); who are aware of the falsehood and who wickedly manipulate the meek to promote their self interests, greed and lust.

i may have missed this, but can anyone tell me what was the pretext the gb concocted to justify their abandonment of a perfectly suitable, high-profile, high-visibility complex in what is arguably the world's greatest metropolis for the bucolic isolation of upstate new york.

any how does the move square with their purported belief in the imminence of armageddon?

Where Does The Governing Body Stand On "Obeying The Superior Authorities" @ Romans Something Or Other?

where do they stand of the issue obeying the governments even though they publicly teach that all governments are under satanic control and doomed to destruction by their jehovah deity.. and have they considered this scripture on their past and currant policies of not reporting any fellonies to the superior authority their elders have had to handle judicially and keep it confidential.

I was always confused on how it worked together until I figured out that - it doesn't. They will obey when it is convenient for them. When they can cover up wrongdoing in the organization, it's suddenly god's will to disobey the authorities.

my mom has been extensively texting me, trying to argue that the un ngo scandal is not a big deal and that the child abuse scandal is to instigate the great tribulation.

even worse, she kept saying how great it is that the gb is imperfect and fallible and that teaching changes all the time.

maybe it was aggravation or impatience, but i finally just snapped and told her, "it's a cult, mom.".

You've rocked her world. As is human, when people are hurt they get angry. You will be in for some tough times ahead with your mom. Hang in there and keep yourself grounded. She is in ignorance...whether she choses to stay there is up to her. You've taken the wise course and left. Congratulations. Remember not everyone will share our views. Breathe.

Kingdom halls needed in the Caribbean?They recently sold off the beautiful Branch in the Bahamas. Where did that cash go?! As a matter of fact, most of the halls in the back county were nothing more than glorified shacks. (It fit in with the surroundings, actually better) The assembly hall in jamaica was open air with benches. Maybe this is the spin.....construct lovely high end buildings in resort areas with free labor, then sell them off OR convert to "Bethel Traing Facilities" AKA vacation spots for the Borg...

Could this be the reason for one day assemblies

last saturday i sat through the one day assembly and i waited for the anticipated accounts report.

for one day the costs were $10,000.

even my wife questioned why the costs are so high and why don't they give a break down on the costs?
