My sister works as Biomedical scientist in a hospital in Nigeria and has had 2 JW's take blood in the last 3 months. It's supposed to be confidential, so the elders never find out.

How Many Witnesses Would Really Take Blood?
by minimus inup until the very end, my mother refused blood.
it didn't matter if it was a blurred line or not, the bible says "no blood"!
i wonder if she was in the minority, in her thinking.

Ours was to support the mid-week field service arrangement regularly as they often had only 1 or 2 pioneers turning up. 2nd, was to report field service hours as many are irregular and 17 are inactive in a cong of 60 publishers -

Hey Sankara, I'm Nigerian as well and I'm 22 but living in the UK for university. I've just graduated and I'm moving back in less than a month and I'm not quite ready to stand up to my parents. My sister is here and knows TTAT and graduates next year so hopefully, we'll both get an apartment and move out of our parents house together. What city do you live in? You can PM me. We live in PHC but shuttle between there and Lagos. -

What's the craziest thing someone INFORMED on you about?
by Londo111 inthe culture of jws as encouraged by the watchtower is one of informing on one another, reporting to either the elders or ones designated head.
whats the wackiest thing that someone reported on you?
im not talking about a black-and-white watchtower rule that would land you in a judicial committee, but some judgmental nonsense that someone thought they should turn you in about?.

Oh and when we came back, my teenage sister back at home said there was a rumour going around that we might be lesbians as we wore nose piercings and wore anklets -

I'm in university in England with my younger sister and we go back home to Nigeria every year to see our family. We had our noses pierced a few months before we went back last year and after our first meeting at the local hall, an elder's wife came up to us and asked that we take it out as it could stumble younger ones in the hall who look up to us.
We refused and asked her to mind her business as we weren't even a part of her hall. She went to report the matter to her husband who came by our house later that evening to talk to my parents about it. My mum went crazy and told him he had no right to single out her well-behaved children and to stay out of our business. He looked to my dad in surprise for support but got just silence. He apologised and went home. The next meeting day I changed my simple stud for an elaborate ring and got stares but no one was brave enough to say anything.

Does Anyone Still Believe in God?
by LaurenM indo any of you ex-jw's still believe in god?
even with the new rebranding/softening of this religion, i still don't see how people can believe in him.
the god of the old testimate is an angry murderer who approved rapes and slavery and killed thousands of men, women and children.

I definitely don't anymore. I grew up believing all bad things were caused by satan. My mum would curse satan if she so much as stubbed a toe or bumped her head against a door. I was soo scared of Jehovah punishing me for eating a piece of birthday cake when I was about 5, that made me have horrible nightmares for weeks.
P.s- If I win the lotto jackpot, I might reconsider

One day assembly
by Sour Grapes inat a recent one day assembly i walked away with the thought that the wtbts sure does not like witnesses who have the opportunity to make a good living.
there were, in one day, three experiences of witnesses who turned down "6 figure salaries" because there would be some traveling involved and some meetings would be missed as well as missing family worship night.
i thought it strange that the exact phrase was used of "6 figure salary".

This reminds me of my parents (in Nigeria). My dad and my mum dated for a while and my mum said she wouldn't get married if he didn't go to university as she was studying to become a nurse and a midwife in the. His dad was an elder and the P.O at the time and it was a fight but my dad ended up going and got an engineering degree and has done well. These days the elders go to him to finance certain projects at the hall, most brothers go to him for loans they have no plan of ever paying for and we've got a flat that used to be for visiting overseers (till my mum got tired of always hosting them).
About 5 years ago, He was stepped down as an elder because he sent I and my sister to England to go to university. Last year, the elders met up with him to ask if he wanted to take up the post again and he refused. His cousin on the other hand, didn't go to school and worked hard towards being a Circuit overseer but he wasn't appointed as one after many years and is very bitter and broke. sigh

My family is in Nigeria and the last time I spoke with my dad, he said a hall in a town we used to visit when I was little got shut down because almost every publisher was involved in occultic practices and weird things used to happen in the hall so they dissolved the congregation, handed each one their publisher card and sold the hall.
