Omg I almost forgot about that acronym DINK, but you just stirred a memory from an assembly talk given by our district overseer 10 years ago. He flat out told the circuit "we dont want to follow the world and end up becoming a Dink, double income no kids." I remember thinking that would be so horrible because one should be able to pioneer if there were no kids right? Ugh, the borg completely had a hold on me.

Challenging concepts- Are you reproduction-oriented? (Global Times Metropolitan section Two Cents page).
by fulltimestudent ini guess the idea behind this term is not really knew.
after all, the western term, "dinks, (double income, no kids" must be at least 30 years old.
but what really surprised me was this paragraph:.

We never did and I always felt bad but now looking back I'm glad we didn't give a cent. They may have wasted my time but not my money -

I too must question your motives for even being here in the first place. Looking back to some of your posts you claim to only post on certain topics and avoid anything to do with doctrinal issues but considering that alot of the same members post widely across all topics you are still taking part and being exposed to many doctrinal comments, evidences and opinions that the society would hold as apostate, things that regular jehovah's witnesses are instructed/counseled to stay away from and could even be punished for being a part of. It makes me feel that either,
1. You must be hiding your involvement with this site from your elders or...
2. You are part of the elite, elders or some other position that would exempt you from any disciplining action for being involved here.
#1 displays you do not have true Christian freedom and #2 makes u a hypocrite

Has anybody been guilted/emotionally blackmailed into attending the 2015 Memorial?
by Bucholz inhello everybody, i was wondering if anyone has been guilted or emotionally blackmailed into attending the memorial this year.
something along the lines of "if you loved your family you would at least attend the memorial".
i myself haven't attended in 5 years.

I wouldn't go even if I was given the guilt trip. There's no way I'm giving them more numbers to their precious statistics on memorial attendance. I do not support the bragging rights -

Recorded judicial committee hearings
by Bamidbar ini believe that the best way to inoculate any friend or relative of yours from becoming more deeply involved in the watchtower is exposure to recordings of the judicial process.. that goes for those already in the watchtower---if you can get them to listen.. what in your opinion are the best available online?.
i recommend several.
i am writing this off the cuff and do not have all the exact links, but you should find them easily.. anondud2 - on youtube.

Now you have me hooked on listening to all these elder meetings. Im obsessed. A lot of the same style questions were asked of my husband at his JC. It all boils down to procedure and policy, forget the bible, that doesn't matter once they try and get you focused on God's one channel, geez. -

Before knowing TTATT did you really believe in things as...
by roberto avon indid you really believe in things as ;- the earth is only 6000 years old- the 144.000- 1914, based upon the destructiono of jerusalem- harmagheddon or the end of the world coming soon???
?i married a jw when i was an interested person and studying with the jw's ( not the way they wanted) but i told my wife before marrying her that " most probably " i would never have been a jw.she accepted me as i was and married me.
after that i had interrupted the study for one year, i started all over again with an elder of my wife's cong.

When the Daniel book came out I couldn't put faith in a lot of stuff they were trying to say applied to Rutherford and the other brothers being imprisoned and such from Scriptures in Daniel. That was bogus in my mind and I was about 14/15 at the time -

Question_Mans_interpretation
Hey lifeisfun, welcome, I'm a fairly new ex jw and had to undergo a huge mind altering process over this last year after I was DA'd. It takes time and I had to work on it but I have more friends now than I did all my life as a jdub. To do this my husband and i joined adult co-ed sports teams and looked out for people doing the sames things we loved and took the initiative to talk to them. It actually really helped to share our story about being jehovah's witnesses and admitting our relationships were limited because of it and just telling people we wanted to branch out brought about many new introductions. We have made some great quality connections, and I hope the same happens to you
Almost my entire JW family is from the San Diego/Escondido area whom I'll probably never talk to again cause I'm apostate in their minds or very close to it. Is that about your same area?

shunniversary
by Question_Mans_interpretation inas of the first week of february i had my one year shunniversary and i'm just now getting around to commemorating it and what better way to do that than share my story here.. im a fourth generation jdub.
my greatgrandparents learned the "truth" on their farm back east somewhere and now here i am with a whole lot of jw indoctrination and a huge jw family.. i first began to wake up in november 2011 when the two part series came out in the watchtower on the discrepancy of the destruction of jerusalem dates.
my husband, bless him, had said to me a couple months prior that he wanted to start taking a closer look at the 1914 doctrine because some of the dating calculations didn't seem right ( he's a total numbers guy and is extremely good at math) so when these two part articles came out the timing was just amazing and helped us to start seeing the holes in the societies reasoning.

@ paintedtoenail, oh my god what a wonderful idea on the invites. I definitely plan to commemorate my shunniversary every year and you have given me some wonderful ideas. It's funny how despite losing so many connections the blessings and gains over this past year have far out weighed the losses. -

You might be a JW If you rephrase paragraphs you read to put them in your own words...........
Ugh hated doing that as a kid for the Sunday watchtower study.
