OK kids, here is an update if you love marching band competitions.
My 15 year old percussionist (girl) led her band to:
1st place Percussion (Hey they smoked James Logan HS by three points!!)
1st place Ensemble Music
1st place General Effect Music
Her school lost overall by .7 of a point to Logan. BUT her school is a 140 person band and Logan is a 300 person band. There is blood in the water this year.

This is my childs first year in marching band. It is sooo much fun. Little town, and little band (35?) New teacher, he likes to show them off. I think the band will grow now.

High School Bands are a great group for kids to be a part of. Kuddos to you kiddo.... that takes a lot of work, you should be very proud.

Great news. I played saxophone in my junior high band, thankfully I didn't have to march. That would have required too much coordination on my part. lol

Ah, Lisa, I can see your face beaming through your post! Congrats to raising such a talented and smart young lady. But we all know where that came from right? How's that baby of yours doing? Yes, I realize it's not a baby anymore...I'm just very unwilling to let go of the fact that on this board the kids are growing up before our eyes.
Lisa, that's great!!!!!!!!! That's about the best feeling to have, knowing their percussion won!
I used to play bass drum in marching band, and only once did we win for best percussion.
