I LOVE Marching bands! Congratulations to Mom and daughter and the rest of the band! Never played an instrument, just sang with the school choir, but always admired those with more musical talent (and coordination) than myself!

I wish I could transport you all here on Saturday. The Bulldog Classic is being held at Fresno State. About 35 bands. Last year they won sweeps.

Hey Lonely, she switched from trumpet after 5 years to drums in 8th grade. In 9th grade she played 1st bass so well she was asked to be section leader of the Basses in her sophomore year. However, her drum teacher, drum techs and we all persuaded her to push herself. She has the skill. She became the first girl in the 24 year history of the school to play snare (last year, 10th grade). This year she is section leader of the snares--Her school marches 6 snares. Next year she will probably do the unheard of. Become the first female drum line section leader in a 5A school in California....How cool is this.

She wishes to march with the Blue Devils out of Concord after high school.

Apparently the ability to play music was a recessive gene, cause I can't play a damn thing, not even a kazoo.
