There may have been holes in the Clinton plan but if the government really wanted to help people out they would have made it work rather than fight it.

True. Unfortunately our political system enables politicians to support the financial goals of their contributors over the betterment of the constituents.

The "for profit" healthcare the US system is much better for that, as you could easily go to another hospital and get it done if the wait list is too high.
Only if you have the money kwin...you might get in but you'll be sorry later once the bill arrives for even bothering.

Another HUGE problem here in the US is that when you ask how much a procedure will cost, no one can seem to come up with an answer, let alone, an accurate answer! Most of the time the response is, well you have insurance, don't worry about it!. Well I worry about it cuz I have to pay the co-pay of 20% or more. Then you end up getting a bill from the doctor, a bill from the hospital, a bill from radiology, a bill from ..... on and on and on... A Royal Pain!

That's why here in the US we pay so much for drugs! Other countries that have put caps on drug costs, we in the US end up paying some of the "difference" plus all the R&D gets passed on to us.

    I go Generic wherever possible.

No one has "free" health care. What you speak of is called socialized health care.
