Historically speaking, and I mean over hundreds of thousands of years, what we see today is really nothing. The earth periodically goes through minor cycles of warming and cooling. But, every now and then, we get an ice age, or perhaps something worse. A bit of wind is several orders of magnitude less destructive than a freakin ice age. Yet, we've had them before and we'll have them again. Don't worry about it. Besides, what's the worst that can happen - thunderdome?
What the heck is going on with the worsening world conditions!!!!!

The bad conditions in the world struck very close to home and our family this week.
Someone hit our mailbox with a car and didn't stop. It ocurred at about 2AM while we were asleep. Our neighbors (not JW's) were also affected since we have our mailboxes side by side on the street. Their mailbox was broken off the post and also ended up across the street.
Fortunately, we were not out at the mailbox when this happened.

OK, combined with the media availability of immidiate images, and uour preprogrammed JW disaster mindset, we, as a group are far more susceptible to freaking out over these things. But, put in perspective, world conditions ARE MUCH BETTER!! I'm gonna post a couple of sites, then I'll write more
Wiith agriculture, etc. and the medical technologies we have today, while we can't control nature, we can sure as hell save a lot more people when this stuff DOES happen!!!
The body counts from the tsunami, and both hurricanse are SMALL compared to what we have on these sites. Think about it. The earth is not static, it's constantly changing and building. And as much as we've advanced, we can't control it.

Avishai -- Thank you for posting that, I am saving it to my favorites, hey maybe I can show it to my mom and help her to see that these things are normal, on the other hand no it won't do any good, she want's to believe things are the worse now, that way she feels the "Paradise" is closer still. But I will show it to some that like me know these things are normal.
Thanks,
IC

RubaDub, did you mention to your neighbor how you feel blessed by Jehovah that nothing worse happened?

Current climatic changes are largely a result of humankinds burning fossil fuels at such a rapid rate. Global warming is a reality, and those who deny it are hiding their heads in the sand. On the large scale, this amounts to nothing when compared to events which have happened previously, as mentioned in earlier posts, such as Ice Ages (as recently as 20,000 years ago, the Great Lakes region was under a sheet of ice one mile thick!), or asteroid impacts (such as the one which struck the planet and ended the Mesozoic Era). The main thing to keep in mind is that LIFE was not extinguished through these events. Life is the natural condition of matter, and will continue wherever conditions permit. Indeed, LIFE will go on on this planet, unless something REALLY serious, such as the Sun going nova, happens.
