IIRC, it was Bill's father (William Heath Sr.) who provided the funds for Beth Shan.
Always lots of devious politics at Bethel; never a dull day.
The Beth Sarin house was an obvious case of the indentured corruption of what makes up the WTS., the reason being if the house was really
built for the " Ancient Worthies " why didn't they leave it all prepared for them rather than have the President J Rutherford
live in the house himself. The reason being of course once Rutherford realised its splendor and the warm inviting climate where the home was built,
he choose to live in it himself even though he had a home in Southern California where his wife lived.
With his very expensive Cadillac parked in the garage he must have thought himself as an upper class celebrity. ( a rich one )
What's even further disgusting is this all occurred during the Great Depression where people were struggling severely just to get by.
My guess is that no one in the orgaization knew except the top-tier members in Brooklyn of Rutherford's lavish lifestyle.
The WTS corporation brought more than just power into his hands it brought a whole lot more.
A few years after Brother Rutherford’s death, the board of directors of the Watch Tower Society decided to sell Beth-Sarim. Why? “The Watchtower” of December 15, 1947, explained: “It had fully served its purpose and was now only serving as a monument quite expensive to keep; our faith in the return of the men of old time whom the King Christ Jesus will make princes in ALL the earth (not merely in California) is based, not upon that house Beth-Sarim, but upon God’s Word of promise.”
This proves that Watchtower funds WERE used for Bethe Sarim, to maintain its upkeep!
Does anyone recall reading that The Watchtower, during the late 1940's, sold off its "places of refuge" that it had built?
Gilead in New York State was originally a "place of refuge", but was turned into a missionary school.
This proves that Watchtower funds WERE used for Bethe Sarin, to maintain its upkeep!
It does from information gathered that the land and the house may have been contributed to the organization by
the wealthy fellow named Heath but the following upkeep and the land taxes etc. must have been high, but the REAL
reason was the WTS. didn't want the rest of the body of members know who lived there in this lavishly anointed home,
when most devoted followers lived in much lesser of a lifestyle. That had to be a highlighted concern among the many other reasons.
I'd like to know what happened to Rutherford's Cadillacs ?
Come to think of it wasn't the home and land titled to the WTS just so to avoid land taxes, being identified as being used for religious purposes ?
Interesting that it just eventually became one of the many real estate properties owned by the WTS. and sold for profit.
How do these religiously based organizations make so much money, you first hire a lawyer
I'd like to know what happened to Rutherford's Cadillacs ?
Nathan Knorr drove a Cadillac, or perhaps rahter, he was driven in one.
Not the same one as Rutherord's, but a late model that was given to him as a gift from a rich JW.
Jesus would have never own a Cadillac he would have driven a basic 4 door Chevy
i don't doubt for a minute that the society paid for everything...
The trust accounts within trust account, sub organizations, fake commitees, obscure men in charge of real estate transactions etc goes way back to Russell.
just begin with the Land that is the cemetary Russell is buried in for example...its impossbile to follow the well covered tracks of Russell and Co.
but the circumstancial evidence is all there about this corrupt organization, and thats the trouble...the wicked web of society finacial deceit is so vast that nothing could be proven unequivicaly.
thanks for the BTT
