Hmm, I don't know. I can't even recall what I was looking for when I found this place. This was probably a bit over a year ago. I think I looked at this place as a bit of an oddity. I read a handful of posts, bookmarked it, and didn't think about it again for a long time.

For no apparent reason, I came back and started reading some more posts earlier this year. I felt the need to share, joined, and here I am.

I joined another board soon after I started fading. Saw links to JWD and checked it out. Lurked for a few months then started posting.
I've dropped the other board as it seems more suited for people with certain similar views and found myself irritated at the constant arguing and censorship.

I was an inactive JW (approx 4yrs) when the light dawned that JW's didn't have the truth and were just a man-conceived, cultish religion. I found this board in a flurry of online research into the borg. I lurked for a couple of weeks, reading the "best of" series and trying to get a feel for how things worked, before I started posting.

JWD was not my first ex-jw board. I lurked on another board for about 4 months before I started posting. By the time I started posting I was thoroughly convinced that the JWs were an abusive cult.

After 4 months of lurking I became inactive, and I DA'd three months later.

Someone I met on another forum told me about it. I jumped in the next day. I was never df'ed or anything. My family walked away from the jw when I was 15.

I was very active in an AOL chatroom for DF'd persons when I first stopped going to meetings about 7 years ago. (I'm not DA or DF)I even hosted one for a while. Did a lot of research to reaffirm my decision. That lasted about a year. I didn't leave for doctrinal reasons, mainly the people and witch hunts. The doctrinal lies just added icing to the cake.

I am married to an active JW so need fortification sometimes.....found this a couple of weeks ago and just jumped in. If JWs had been anything like the people here, I may not have thought to leave or question.

I lurked for 2 months before joining. I was never baptized and got to the point where I was subtly told to "s*** or get off the pot" by my study conductor.

It was by reading all of your posts that I realized "apostates lies" were actually "good people truths".

Did you first come to JWD as a non-active, or DFd or faded witness, liked what you were reading and decided to become a poster? Guilty. My exit from the cult was announced at the local KH by the Pharisees in November 2004 after I told them I was going to worship Jesus. I logged onto JWD for the first time in January 2005.

If so, how long did the jump from lurker to poster take? Less than 3 hours.

Hey! Don't forget the UBM's (un-believing mates)! This site meets the needs of all kinds of people, not just fading or ex-Jehovah's Witnesses.

I joined after lurking for five minutes.

    I was active

looking for some specific information on a bible topic; the thread happened to pop up in google so I read it.

Lurked for about 2 years. after 1 year I bought and read CoC. Knew I wanted out but was afraid of the consequences.

Joined in December 2004. Wish I had done it much much sooner. I really needed the support much more than I realized.
