It probably was at one time, VM. It never was the organic paradise some JWs thought it was. Perhaps during the depression and the war years it was cheaper to grow your own. But as the Bethel organization has grown in numbers, it became less of a bonus. When I was out in the area in the mid to late 80's, they were already cutting back on growing fruit, produce, chickens and pigs. I'm sure the cattle production is gone now too. For the same reasons, I wouldn't be surprised if eventually most of the printing or a large part of it ends up being done by outside printing companies for the same reason, cheaper. Blondie

The following is a picture of signage which hangs in the lobby at Wallkill, aka the Watchtower Farms. In the center of the sign is an overhead picture of the layout at Wallkill.
Below is the residential buildings at Patterson, aka the Watchtower educational Center. Set in the Catskills Mtns, this billion dollar complex is home to the Gilead class, and most GB members stay there primarily.
Just for kicks, here's one of me kicking it back in the "Lion's Den", better known as the reception area at Patterson.
And proof that Patterson does exist: A picture of 2 sisters standing right in front of the sign at Patterson.
