Sheesh. Reading stuff like this brings up some bad memories.
My folks were pretty strict because my dad was an elder and on track to become a CO. We would come back from an assembly and my dad would go through what few tapes I had and throw away anything verboten. That always really pissed me off because we didn't have a lot of money and if I bought a tape or record (dating myself here) it meant something to me. My tastes in music were pretty bland anyway. I mean, throwing away a Journey tape? C'mon. And then to make matters worse, the witnesses would later deny that they ever blacklisted any specific bands.
And then the usual stuff: no school sports, worldly friends, college, holidays, birthdays, etc.
What really sucks is now I get to finance all of this crap for my kids.
