(Oops, I inadvertently posted a reply to my 'Anonymous domain name registration' thread here.)
LittleToe,
the "product" will arrive in a brown paper parcel
<lol> It obviously wasn't limited to just Liffey-water!

I've already tried Paypal--it's good, but it's definitely not anonymous. If you want to receive funds, you have to enter your real name becuase it has to be the same as the account name of your credit card or bank account. When someone sends you funds, Paypal sends them an automatic acknowledgement / receipt, which has your real name on it.
Even if receiving funds wasn't an issue, and are only interested in making payments, you still have to pay funds into Paypal, and that leaves a paper trail.
Nathan Natas,
I would suggest that you open up a NEW bank account that is not the one you use to pay your mortgage and household bills from, and use that account only for your Paypal adventures. I would also suggest signing up for a new credit card to be used the same way - ONLY for paypal. For either account, it might be nice to have a post office box or a private postal company listed as your address.
Devious, aren't you? Don't let me get on your bad side!
Don't you have to produce a utility bill or something when opening a bank or credit card account, in order to prove your identity? Any problem if you're not a US resident? Can you do it online?
Elsewhere,
When I tried your www.internetcash.com link, I got a 404. I then tried the home page and got Methacton School District. Seems something funny is going on here!
What a shame, it looked very promising. I'll look into some of the other options you suggest. Thanks.
LittleToe,
Actually it's not illegal in Britain to open a bank account under a pseudonym. As long as it isn't used for nefarious means it's quite legal.
True, but the bank still knows your real identity and address, so it's not anonymous.
Nathan Natas,
Could an American citizen open a British chequing account? Would the Bank expect a UK address?
Probably. British banks aren't fussy, they'll take anyone's money. Getting it back is another matter, though...
Simon,
It's perfectly legal to have bank accounts in other countries
That's what I'm starting to think about. Know any countries which don't require you to prove your identity?
