I feed my cats Iams and my dogs Nutro Natural Choice.
I have made food for the dogs before with chicken, rice, garlic and onion. They love it and it's good for them, but it sure fill them up with liquid so they're outside for a while when I make that.
My oldest dog is 16 1/2 (lab/shepherd mix) and she's doing fine. Had cancer at 9 and a large tumor removed. Kinda slow and doesn't hear as well as she used to, but she's happy, gets around fine and bosses the basset (6) around all day. He does whatever she tells him.

My vet told me to feed the cats Science Diet or Purina Pro Plan. They like the Pro Plan and hate the Science Diet. I was feeing them Nutro but the vet advised me against it. Nutro uses vegetables as a filler. Cats are carnivores and do not need vegetables. Besides, the stuff stinks to high heaven. The smell could knock a buzzard offa sh*t wagon.
