What do you mean?
If that was true back then, then why isn't it today?
It isn't true anymore today, because the sheep and goats are not divided today as we speak, says the Watchtower. But that's what they preached some 20 years ago....figure that out.
But now they say that's for the future, and didn't happen yet.
You have got to be sh***ing me!
You mean to say that they proclaim that the preaching work, the separating work, was complete at some recent point? But that now it has started a backwards slide?
I thought they taught that when the separating work was finished, the end would come.

Back in 1988 when i was active, we were seperating sheep from goats by preaching door to door. Then in the mid 90's when I was still active, they told us that the separation of sheep and goats is for the future.
So, what were we doing all that time going door to door?
Is that new? That's why I asked!

Another change which has been made which goes hand in hand with the generation change is the one concerning their interpretation of when Jesus will sit down on His throne to judge the "sheep" and the "goats" in Matthew25:31-32. The original teaching as stated in the book "You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth", page 183 states: "'Yes since Christ returned and sat down on his heavenly throne, all humankind has been on judgment. This present 'day of judgment' comes before the 1,000 year Judgment Day begins. During the present judgment, people are being separated as 'goats' to Christ's left hand or as 'sheep' to his right." From this the Witnesses were told that since Christ was already judging the sheep and the goats their preaching work, under "angelic direction", was accomplishing this separation work (Watchtower, January 1, 1988, p.16). The new teaching, as outlined in the Watchtower of October 15, 1995, p.22-23 relating again to Matthew 25:31-32, states, "In other words, the parable points to the future when the Son of man will come in his glory. He will sit down to judge people then living." (Bold words ours for emphasis.) The article then goes on to say that Jesus' "sitting down on his glorious throne" applies to a future point when He will pronounce judgment on the nations. The separation of the sheep and goats is now spoken of as a future happening not something which has been happening over the past years as was previously taught.
That the generation that was around in 1914 would not pass away before Armageddon hit. It still blows my mind that the WBTS so brazenly tried to side-step that by conveniently changing their definition of the word "generation".
JH is right. It was in about 1995 or so. Blondie has commented on the implications of the generation change.
Last year there was an article on the preaching work, and they even let go the necessity to gather in as much of the harvest as possible. The article intimated it is enough to "spread the seed", or, distribute magazines.

I'm with you on that one Daystar ... once they made that change there was no need to pretend anymore. I knew for a fact that they could not be inspired by HS and get something like that so fundamentally wrong for so very many years ... and have people putting their lives on hold anticipating a new world . Really pi**ed me off that one did I remember the seperating flip flop a little less passionately than the generation change. Must not of been paying attention very well ... probably didn't get a chance to underline my watchtower . sweet tee
