Well while all our American friends are off celebrating Halloween in various shapes and forms Down Under everyone is gathering to watch the biggest horse racing event of the year...

THE MELBOURNE CUP!!!

Well I placed my bets and was very optimistic about them as I had recieved a HOT TIP....

Likea Falcon to win/place.

So all excited I made my way to the TAB for the first time in my life and dolled at my money.

The race has just been called and my horse did not win. Did not place. it is a tragedy.

I am so cranky with that horsey! I was calling out to it run faster! Run faster! but alas alack it just didn't run fast enough.

Ah the evils of gambling. Must be the great Jehoba trying to learn me a lesson.

I'm just back from halloween night (it's 11:30 here).

A woman into horse racing at an early age? Do many women in ausralia like horse racing? I'm just curious? Here there aren't many. My family owns and breeds racing horses. I was never into the racing though. All that jbubb anti-gambling brainwashing...can't get the suds outta my brain cells.

the Gee-gees are australian tradition, gambling is a national pastime too! If you can bet on the outcome of an event, they do here! I hate gambling, not becuase of my dub roots, but i feel its a waste of money!

Hiya Dezi... this is the only time I have bet on the races. I've been to the races before and LOVE it... All the glamour and the drinks and the social classes that I will never fit into he he he... But Australia pretty much stops what it does on the First Tuesday in November at 3pm every year... and listens to the race. It's a pretty big event but I'm not sure why. Not only did I not win at the TAB I didn't win any of the office sweepstakes either. It sucks arse I tell you!

Good luck. You have to gamble often to win. On another note I went to Stevenyc's party saturday which was great. He was dressed in a really good pirate costume. I also met Soledad. Both of them were great. We may go out this weekend to an ex-jw meetup in manhattan.
