    In response:

Yes, the Mormons most definitely ARE doing "warning" work, and do believe the return of Jesus Christ to be very near. It would take one JW more than 50 years of "service work" to equal the hours spent by just ONE full-time missionary, so please don't bother to say Mormons "merely" serve for two years.

Mormon missionaries make good use of their time and then return home to college, marriage, job, family, and ongoing Church service beyond what any of my JW family members could imagine doing. And Mormons don't just sit around having meetings either. They are out in the community doing some real good, at homeless shelters, Habitat for Humanity, food banks, and other unpaid charity work for the benefit and blessing of others.

As for the Book of Mormon, you reveal a low and uneducated mind when you slander someone else's scriptures. If you don't care to respect the book, then don't. Not everyone does. But those people with class keep their negative opinions to themselves or at least frame them in kinder terms, as Cygnus did.

And finally, your family is most likely NOT doing "baptisms for the dead" every Saturday night. I suggest you have further conversations with them so that you won't continue to sound so abysmally ignorant. There is much more done in the Temple than that. Again, you reveal a total lack of class.

If all you can do is throw stones at others, how can you hope to attract anyone to your religion?

Well all these responses here that I have read are good ones, but my response is to you. Why not leave her to her madness? Listen to the tone of her words and what she's telling you. She's not interested in change or growth. She's 'happy' where she is and is only dialoging with you to change YOUR mind. She's prolly adding the time she spends with you onto her time card! You have about as much chance of getting her to see the Watchtower in a negative light as you would getting a staunch democrat seeing George W. Bush as a hero.

I've gotten caught up in these time wasting dialogues so many times that I now avoid them all together. Life's to short to waste time trying to get the blind to see. Especially those who don't want to see in the first place.

Where do we go away to?

I thought about that for a while. I/We left the WTBTS and we found 'the human race.' We found love and kindness, where we were told there was NONE. We found understanding and peace, with ourselves and others.

I accept completely that bad things happen and bad people exist, but they exist everywhere including the JWs.

So, there is no religion to go to. There is no faith that is better than the JWs.

If Christ is Love, then love is what we found, of ourselves first and then easily for others.

I can honestly say, I don't know if I believe in God or Christ or anything like that. But where we 'went away to' and what we found was better than a whole lifetime in the Jehovahs Witness cult. In the end we found humanity, in ourselves and others without the need for an organization to tell us what to do, say, feel, how to react and not to think.

    I recommend it to everyone.

Comparing the Book of Mormon to the Watchtower is like comparing the dust bag from your vacuum cleaner to a banquet of fresh food

Actually it's more like comparing the dust bag from your vacuum cleaner to a bowl full of freshly regurgitated vomit.

Three people are parties to a situation where person #1 is trying to change a political ruling.
Person #1 is trying to influence person #2, who is politically active, to influence person #3, who is politically active.
Question: Who is involved in politics?

No good trying to argue within the J W box of circular reasoning, have to think outside of their argument. Comments so far about "Where else ?" are excellent, though. You do not have to know all the answers about everything in order to know that something is horribly wrong with the set up . I get this at home "Well, what is your answer then, if the WT is so wrong?" But there does not have to be a readymade alternative. We simply say that that the WT cannot be what it claims to be because of ........then you can list all manner of things that are fundamentally wrong .
