it was nice to see jesus suffering a little. no one deserves to suffer like that except god.

I'm just going to simply say this, for those who are denigrating the whole thing.
Regardless of your own beliefs or lack thereof, I find it crass that you should talk down about someone whom a few of us call a personal friend. Sure, you don't, and that's fine. However for some of us it has some meaning, and just as we wouldn't show such a lack of sympathy.........
I wonder, in this day and age, whether that's asking just a little to much of people

Yeah...maybe the critics should back down a bit, and show respect for peoples faith. I looked a bit on the other thread about this, and I agree that, yes, all of humanity suffers, and many people suffer more than Christ did, because they suffer their whole lives, however: The hours Christ suffered from the whipping on until he died on the cross, can have been no easier than most other deaths. IF the whipping was as horrible as in the movie, then his pain (for those few hours) would be comparable to the suffering of most people who have ever died horrible deaths.
I also really hate subtitles and wish the jews woulda shut up so the actual account of them taking responsiblity for executing christ could have been shown .
Did they ever take responsibility for that? On the other hand, I`m not even sure if they should. Jesus HAD to die, so that he could be ressurected, and promise hope for all mankind, by conquering death. This is the problem I have with Judas, by the way, especially in the gospel of John. Judas is portrayed as Satans tool, literally posessed by the devil. But if it hadn`t been for Judas, and if it hadn`t been for the jews, there would have been no christianity. Most of the "blame" (although I think it`s wrong to talk about this in terms of "blame" and "responsibility"), should be put on Jesus himself. He provoced them all. Had they accepted him as the Messiah, would there even had been a christianity?

I don't get it. Was Christ really his son? It was totally unnecessary for him to suffer like it was protrayed in that movie. God could forgive us humans without all the suffering and a sacrifice. After all, forgiveness is just in the mind, not some physical requirement of a sacrifice. Shouldn't we be judged by what we are rather than on what someone else did?
If we beleive the bible we have to beleive that God loves swords(since he invented them in the Garden of Eden) and killing was the main character of his Jewish nation, and Armageddon is comming soon, and he loves to drag it all out for thousands of years, since Christ sacrifice has been paid for two thousand years now and nothing has changed.

Hey LittleToe, was that about Jesus or Mel Gibson?
J/k, I'm only going to dog the movie.
But,
I found the movie to be a bit boring. We all know the plot, so without any twists or enhancements, it doesn't really liven anything up. With all those subtitles, I might as well of been reading my Bible. I definitely think that the movie bred hate against the Jewish community. I'm sure that the message was well intended, but it didn't deliver for me.

The movie made me physically ill.
The level of violence and brutality portrayed - while I feel it was authentic from an historical perspective - was not something I would normally watch and I am somewhat annoyed with myself for allowing myself to watch it in this film. I was disgusted and turned off by the violence.
It did not miraculously convert me to Christianity.

I have yet to watch the movie. Growing up in a household where us kids were beaten on a regular basis, I have a very tender issue with violence. I literally get sick when I watch it. One of these days I'll have the courage to do so.

If you haven't seen "Last Temptation of Christ", consider renting it on DVD. THAT was a life changing movie for me! It portrayed the Gospel and especially Judas in a very different perspective. The director and producer took a lot of artistic liberties with the Gospel, but it definitely made you realize what Christ did and how nothing is by accident, especially Judas' role in Christ's slaying. It showed him as being PART of The Plan and he agonized over it, but Christ explained that he had to do it for the benefit of mankind. Since seeing that movie, I have an appreciation for Judas' part in the the whole story of my Christ's Life. Just like today, I have an appreciation for all the crap my parents and the JWs put me through. (Thanks Megadude for nudging me to watch that film!)
